Rets in a really good spot atm. I would rank it A tier overall. It has multiple top tier comps that are S tier. It provides a lot of great utility to the other strong specs. Those specs also provide extra survivability/utility to Ret.

We’re actually pretty good into these classes atm. It’s just knowing how to play into them. Demo for example is mainly opressive during tyrant goes. You should save your blind for it and wake stun it to negate it completly as an example. Dh is a opressive to everyone but still ret holds up well. Dh /dk is probably the hardest dh comp to fight atm for us. Frost mage is defintly difficult just about cd managment and knowing when to run. But frost has been a ret counter this expansion in general.

the problem is the gap between survivability of current S tier specs and RET who have to not only waste entire global cooldowns using WOG (and it costs holy power + mana lol) / nonsensical 80k flash of light instead of dpsing, versus S tiers who dps AND heal - see DH, WAR, PRIEST, DEMO

The blind and wake stun works on the other pets. The tyrant casts still hurts.
Edit: You should also prioritize killing fel obelisks

Listen, everyone saying ret is in a good spot is completely out of touch. Ret is not in a good place because every other melee class got amped up & synergize better with the comps. Blizzard did this intentionally to spice the meta up so it’s not ALWAYS ret every lobby. Anyone telling you different either doesn’t play ret, doesn’t play ret at a higher level, or plays at the highest levels with teammates. The average joe 1800-2100 player gets absolutely destroyed on ret right now. Don’t believe me? I don’t care. It’s personal experience AND it’s experience healing it.

If you want to excel you actually have to learn to use Defensive Utility and play Ret like a support spec

I actually think ret is fine. Damage strong, utility still strong, defenses are strong (might not feel like it with some specs feeling so oppressive atm). I would say the only thing we need is a slight buff to healing…idk what they did but the healing is really trashy.

^ dudes right , ret pumps and has utility. Lotsa classes work with them that are A+ .
I’m only worried about not having a tier set worth a damn but only time will tell.

Go play a feral druid then come back here and tell me how bad your “helpless” ret pally has it.
For godsakes, your class has about 18 seconds of 100% immunity to physical damage which renders many classes useless.
