They have the best off healing, s low cd long duration stun, they can repent, the have bop which is op for cheesing mechanics. Blessing of freedom is great, good Boss damage. They can remove poison and disease which is really helpful in a lot of the dungeons. Those are the main reasons I am happy when I have a ret in group.

“Op for cheesing mechanic” where is this op? Most times I’ve been in a duengon and wether I or another pallie BOPs the tank, he gets upset and tells me not to do it. I find most mythic runs do not need a bop on the tank at alll or your just simply reducing their damage

I agree a lot of what you said, Ret needs a work around. Blizz has starting shifting ret from a melee that can do good ranged attacks with judgement and exorcism, with our nice cross spec abilities such as blessing of sacrifice(that was removed from ret spec for no reason) to something more warrior like, I honestly don't like it at all, It started with the god awful changes in legion to a slightly better version in BFA, the class pruning is not helping either. But even now some good reasons to have a ret in a group is for their supporting abilities.
A GOOD ret can be a serious asset, they can buff your tank and your healer to tank and heal a little longer.
Ally about to die? Lay on hands, back to the fight.
Healer has aggro and taking damage? Blessing of Protection, they can now recover.
See someone get low? Insta cast your selfless healer proc on someone for a quick little help to the team.
Oh great the tank is rooted, Blessing of Freedom, back to tanking and moving.
Oh great i stepped in fire, maybe no one will notice if i pop my shield of vengeance and damage the boss from its own damage.
Two people just contracted malaria, the healer can cleanse one but its on CD, paladin cleanses and we are all better.
Even with all your support the team cant stay alive? Bubble Hearth.
All the paladin specs are pretty much clutch classes, they can make a vital difference to your team. The only thing you need to make sure when you bring a ret is if you can tell the difference between a good paladin and a bad paladin, aside from Bubbling, our classes are meant to be extremely selfless and prioritize our team rather than our dps, which mind you, we give pretty decent single target damage.

lol dude you don't BoP the tank it wipes threat
it can definitely save lives in a pinch

Yeah, did a +2 key for the weekly today, we rock. So amazing not being able to keep up on aoe dps with people 10-15 item levels lower than you. Granted I smoked everyone on boss fights, but with 90% of time in dungeons being spent on trash I felt absolutely useless. Honestly felt like apologizing for 2 chesting instead of 3.

When you know your rotation, its golden, great Aoe burst, just got to keep to your own self buffs, like inquisition, and your judgement's 25% dmg increase for holy spender skills, BOOM you good.

... you can't keep up the 25% damage increase on judgement, it only effects a single spender.
