Don’t wanna say I told you so, but I did post an entire thread about this when they announced the changes to weapon speed before. 
On a more important note, If i had a nickel for how many Paladin Changes Blizz made and then almost immediately roll back on.
I’d have two nickels which isn’t alot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

It’s a great choice, and I support this for u too you guys. But, when the time comes to put down som and pick up soc, I won’t feel sorry for you guys, as som is tailored to 1h not 2h. If you really love som you will learn to tank eventually, I feel.

i dont think that is going to solve the fact that SoD currently has a dwindling playerbase unfortunately.
Hopefully we’ll get changes to Divine Storm that we need before that happens. I’d love to use a slow 2hander but right now since Divine Storm doesn’t do Holy damage and has a garbage spellpower coefficient it’s kinda dog to use over SoM.

Kinda funny because Prot is just Ret with Righteous Fury on (or deep Holy, lol). Hard to say that Prot is the future for paladins when they can’t even get crit capped

Hpal got 18 percent crit chance 5 from talent and 5 from gear and 2 from int at least. You have 30% crit chance. They do need a cool rune ability tho.
I love the crit however having a dead bracers slot is unreasonably cringe. I do love HoR though

at this point I think they want holy paladins swinging with the hammer of wrath rune and seal of wisdom. Up in your face dungeon style healing. Otherwise I really don’t understand holy paladin rune setup.
Although I can’t beat holy paladin in duel as prot, I don’t understand why people play it in sod. Other than its inherent strengths

It’s definitely not tailored to 1h over 2h right now lmao. SoM is based purely on weapon damage. Big 2h weapon damage makes it hit way harder.
I hate SoM. I hope they buff DS/SoC sooner rather than later. I would LOVE it if SoM was purely for tanking and DS/SoC was for Ret. But that’s not how it is right now. Not by a long shot.
As a prot paladin I tell the raid group no rets. I don’t need 10% holy aura. Besides the next fist weapon increases holy damage by percentage for rogue war.
I’ll take a holy paladin for tank healing. But that last spot is reserved for feral Druid or sp depending on comp.
Why would I want a ret stealing plate, weapons from me when I’m providing the raid tank service with 128 actions per minute. When the ret is a 2 button chump with no dps or utility, on global cooldown lockout?
They get a good dungeon sword. Not a raid sword. A dungeon sword. You don’t need bis to role play. Certainly not in my group.
chill bro sharing is caring, pally tanking is just playing pally dps with a buff (righteous fury) and simply prioritizing that nameplates are the right color to indicate aggro instead of your damage lol

Som is 100 percent tailored to 1h because it’s the only thing that’s making 1h viable right now. It’s called weapon normalization.
Ret has the option of slow 2h and soc
When you have more options, it’s not the only thing making things viable.
If som was tailored to 2h then it wouldn’t be normalized, and you would welcome 4 delay two handers. The panic you saw when there weren’t fast two handers previewed for the new season is proof that som is not innately made for 2 handers.
Meanwhile inventors focal sword made a 1.4 speed weapon.
If they made som for two handers, first it would break prot 1h fast weapon meta. Then, it would be so broken they would have to buff soc, which they should anyhow. Ret players continue pigeonholing themselves and it’s gonna end up bad for them.
