I want to see a pre made with nothing but paladins.

there was genuinely a real concern before bgs came out that people would premade all mage+paladin groups.

A few points I’d like to refute

1.) Ret paladins can’t contribute in PVP
We do excellent damage, but I’ll admit that it takes some gear to do so. In addition, our HoJ tends to see more use on high priority targets because we are typically with the warrior chasing down clothies (and giving the warrior freedom).

There’s also the fact we have considerable CC. 35 second (talented) HoJ and Repentance? You can’t ignore that.

2.) Ret paladins are a selfish spec

I’m sorry, did I pay a subscription to play the way YOU want to play? Sometimes people roll a Shaman because they want to throw lightning bolts at people, not spam chain heal.

You don’t get to decide how people play. If it bothers you so much that I’m in your BG as ret, go play in a premade with other like minded individuals. Nothing is stopping you, except your attitude maybe.

3.) Serious PVP communities would never take a Ret paladin

There’s actually 2 assumptions made here.

  • That you’ll be in the elite 1% of the PVP population. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you won’t be, so why does it matter?
  • That getting to rank 14 requires skill. A correction: it requires time. Lots of it.
You have to dump loads of time into getting Grand Marshall.
Ask my GM: he was a Grand Marshall rogue in Vanilla.

4.) @Theloras

You should’ve seen one of the last games I played: 7 paladins. 3 healers, 4 ret paladins. We absolutely CRUSHED Arathi Basin.

If you are enhc and don’t get NS, then you are two shorted by melee. If you swap to sword and board, NS back to full health, only an arms warr and really good stunlock rogues can beat you. Ehnc shamans eat combat rogues and fury warrs for breakfast as long as you put a shield on.

I’ll take a ret pala and ehnc sham over combat rogues and fury warrs in bgs any day.

with herald of woe the orange numbers from seal of command are like 400. im telling you seal of command either needs an increased proc rate or an increased damage coefficient for retribution to be viable. if i worked for blizzard i would have made seal of command deal maximum weapon damage on a proc instead of 70%

Ret > most things. Deal with it.

That sounds to me like you haven’t judged crusader, aren’t running sanc aura, and don’t have vengeance up.

Ele can do both.

Provided just as much evidence for my claim as you provided for yours. Support yours first and then I will provide mine.

I am a Burden…

As far as im concerned every Paladin needs to be Ret.

Reckoning literally doesn’t even work this way in WoW Classic.

Reckoning is only good if you’re getting hammered on by a rogue or warrior.

If bubble is on CD you’ll likely die after you one shot someone.

ret reckoning is a meme. post relevant content.

That would be hilarious to see, can you imagine the warrior QQ posts?

There is really no point in responding to Joyson Graal.

He listed his weapon… and Ret talents aren’t difficult to extrapolate from.

Herald of Woe SoC non crit for 400 means a 575 Auto attack.
Herald of Woe hits for 250 avg prior to talents.
Veng + Sanc = means just over 300 from the base damage of the weapon alone.

Calculate BoM, weapon delay, and so on and his AP was 900…at best, including procs and talents.

On a weapon that is NOT optimized for SoC.
