So I need some advice/help. I am being kited to no end and I can’t find a way to counter it. Wife(disc priest) and I tried to do a few arenas, we normally just BG but fiqured what could it hurt. A resto druid with 190k health kited me and pillar humped their way to victory. I can’t tell you how demoralized it was. How do I catch up/hit/slow a kiter as a Ret. I feel like I can win most situations as a paladin, but kiting beats me every time.
Heretic and Percival give this fellow some good paladin advice
Would love some advice really. I’m a solid 30-40 ilvl behind on every other character and switching doesn’t feel right.
Howdy!
I know the frustration of being kited oh to well.
my suggestion for you would be to swap out divine punisher for law and order that way you will automatically apply hand of hindrance, that coupled with castable hindrance should help you close some of the gaps. I see your already running double steed. I would suggest zeal or ES over righteous verdict though I like the extra big TV, you will never really see that benefit unless you can sit on the target. For your azerite traits try to get at least one indomitable Justice, at least two Avengers might(three of this trait is optum. ) and one lights decree. Essences I would suggest for majors visions of profection, confict and strife, memory of lucid dreams or even crucible of flame. And for minors I like to run Visions of perfection, Memory of lucid dream, Crucible flame or Conflict and Strife. You are more than welcome to btag invite me. Dustin#1859
Edit: you will also want at least one empyrean power.
Thank you for this information! I will have to go over it closer when I get home tonight. I completely forgot about the ability to passively slow people with judgement. I will add you tonight when I get home!
Edit: Would you recommend Engineering for the speed boost to help overcome kiting? I doubt it works in Arena but I’m thinking it might be good for random BGs
Perc gave a lot of good advice there… I would like to add that you don’t chase rdruids. You will never kill them unless they are really bad. Rets in 2s “usually” have to go after the slowest enemy. To catch and kill an rdruid would require you to run es with triple avengers might traits and go all in with dark arch from your disc to kill the druid in a stun.
I had pretty good luck in 2s on my ret just pve’ing the dps in mid and punishing the healer when they attempted to cross mid to cc my healer. I ran vision major to force defensives with my wings proc and then when their defensives ended I’d pop my actual wings and pve.
Law and order is a must for paladin. But the biggest thing is dont run for the rdruid a paladin will almost never stick on them unless you have a partner with a constant slow. Your best bet is to train the dps.
With your wife being a disc, have her purge hots and mind control the druid. When mc goes on dr have her mc the dps so the druid cant heal them. Use your stun on the druid as well.
Edit: looking at your essences. I would get rid of lucid for either vision or conflict. And flame for vision or conflict.
Roll prot and problem solved. I’m just kidding. Percival couldn’t have said it better.
The azerite traits on the engineering helm can be really good. I think they have one called self Cauterizer.
With alchemy now having potions that are just as fast as the belt boost getting that trinket would prob be the strongest thing you could do.
Also I just noticed your talents, I would go zeal like perci said and follow it up with the talent that gives you extra proc chance with blade of justice. As well as getting rid of divine purpose for inquisition. Cavalier is good for when fighting something like a mage or heavy kiting dps. Anything else and you will want the cd reduction on bop and vengeance.
For pvp talents law and order like what was said, and then sanctuary (unless the team doesnt have a silence/stun/fear), and hammer of reck.
What’s the outer ring of the helm?
My helm has Avengers might as it’s outer ring.
That’s the mastery right? I myself use triple empyrean power, and 1 (cant think of the name but its spend HP get a haste stack up to 20) and 2 expurgation ( which I would like to switch out of because crit is nerfed in pvp)
With 3 empyrean that proc hits just as hard as a tv.
I like to run at least one of the empyrean power for the free DS. Are you talking about relentless inquisitor? I think that is the stacking haste buff. Expurgation is nice in pve. But in pvp I just don’t feel it proc enough to be a benefit. I know of one pvper that was running 3 of that trait and was liking it.
yeah it doesn’t proc a lot which is why I want to get rid of it. Crit procs are nerfed in pvp which is why it sucks as a trait. But it’s in such places that it’s not worth doing the other options
IMO for pvp,
Traits: 3 x Avenger’s Might, 1 x Empyrean Power, 1 x Light’s Decree and 1 x Indomitable Justice.
Essences: Vision of Perfection (major), Condensed Life Force (minor), Memory of Lucid Dreams (minor) or Conflict/Crucible.
Talents: Zeal, Hammer of Wrath, Fist of Justice, Wake of Ashes, Unbreakable Spirit/Cavalier (situational) Selfless Healer, and Inquisition.
PVP talents: Lawbringer, Unbound Freedom, and Law and Order (+ Hammer of Reckoning if Running Conflict & Strife as major).
A lot of our talents are have been nerfed in pvp over the course of BFA, so things I once loved, I don’t run anymore (e.g. Execution Sentence & Word of Glory).
This is an awesome essence for really any class.
ES isn’t bad if your want a burst build. But you really have nothing for sustain damage. WOG is sadly only good in pve now.![]()
For pvp the blades of justice talent works better due to both zeal law and order
Being kited is OP’s dilemma. Hammer is one of few ways to do ranged damage. Anytime I spec out of it, I feel naked. The only way I’d run Blade is if I was running 3 x Expurgation and stacking crit.
The loot district is basically 50/50, so it looks like a matter of personal preference.
I feel with law blade and zeal and my base 30% haste I have the ability to stack on targets easier even rdruids
