is there a dps difference if you craft 2hd axe , sword, hammer or polearm?
No dont believe so
No. Just make sure you select strength. Sometimes guides recommend a certain crafted weapon so you can’t accidentally screw it up. For example, there’s a 2H Mace that’s Int instead of Str. And I haven’t verified this, but there’s probably a polearm with Agi.
the Charged Halberd is both str and agi
I came here to ask the same question. The Everforged Greataxe, Charged Crusher, Charged Claymore, and Charged Halberd all have the same DPS, but the minimum and maximum damage vary wildly between them. E.g. at 593 the Axe is 4353 - 9043 damage while the Crusher is 5860 - 7536 and I’m not sure what if any difference it makes.
Our damage is linked to the weapon damage.
It’s an old concept but that means you’d always want the slowest weapon (they are all 3.6 nowadays so you don’t have to worry about it).
Don’t quote me on this but I think the difference from the lower damage to the higher is how Blizz makes it so that your abilities doesn’t always exactly hit for the tooltip damage, there’s always a fraction of a % of variance.
So in the end it’s really just a cosmetic choice.
Several days of poring over it and I’m no closer to a definitive answer. At present I’m using an 8/8 adventurer tier axe at 593 with the same damage numbers as the Everforged Greataxe and I guess I’ll just keep rolling with the axes (crafted at higher level of course).
What this basically boils down to is that all of the weapons will average the same amount of damage over time, but some will have more variation than others.
If you’re the kind of player that likes consistency then go with the weapon that has the smallest damage range. If you like big numbers and are ok with occasional small numbers to balance it out then go with the weapon that has the largest variance.
They will average out to be even. Its just that some players like the rush of the higher highs and lower lows while some do not.
I want to ask, are you using cssa or ts?
that isnt relevant to anything
It actually does unless the weapon speeds is the same. Cssa is ap baised instead of weapon damage baised.
the dps difference between weapons with csaa and ts is literally lower than 0.01% due to the normalization of weapon damage and speeds for 2handers.
this is why the type of weapon you make is irrelevant in retail unlike in classic
That is because the calculations is done on ap not weapon damage.
Since cssa is on a hard ap calculator, a faster weapon might do more damage.
And even if it don’t, mechanically faster weapon swings would calculate to faster hp generation as well since cssa is baised on hard set weapon swings (2 swings per hp)
like ive said, weapon speed and damage has been normalized. please dont confuse people
Ok, how should i put this.
Paladins with cssa, don’t have to care about weapon damage, just the speed. Why? Because the skill does not calculate weapon damage with the skill. It’s not in the equation. At all. It is baised 100% on your current ap. Cssa users weapons other then attack speed is just stat sticks, which is weird for a melee spec.
this is irrelevant, as i stated multiple times. weapon speeds are normalized to be the same across all wepaon types. this is not a thing to worry or even mention
All retail weapons of the same type (ie 2h vs 1h) have the same speed. What OP is asking about is the normal damage variation found on all weapons.
They all have the same speed. All weapons of the same item level do the same damage over time (ie their dps). The only thing left is the minor damage variation between weapon types. In the grand scheme of things this doesn’t matter at all, although there is a tiny bit of room for person preference.
Some may prefer more variance (highs and lows) while some may prefer more consistency. Overall though, it doesn’t really matter.
I’m super casual now, haven’t kept up on every DPS increase. The reason you craft a weapon is for the embelishments. You need the one that stacks a secondary on your weapon and the embelishment on an armor item that doubles the amount stacked.
Because of this, crafted weapons are Best in Slot as long as you don’t have access to a weapon that is significantly higher in terms of item level. It’s 3-4% of secondary stat boost.
Do your own research I’m 90% sure this is true though. You craft a weapon for embelishments the secondaries are important as well so use the right missive, type of weapon means nothing.
