Ret paladin corrupted ashbringer?

were rets able to get corrupted ashbringer in naxx vanilla? was it a decent rep weapon?

As a 2-handed sword both Warriors and Paladins could wield it.

Being a Naxx drop, it was one of the best weapons for Ret Paladins next to Might of Menethil.

I don’t remember anybody ever actually playing ret in classic.

Yes a paladin could in theory get one. However to raid as a dps paladin in naxx you are going to have to prove yourself better then the mass majority of your brethren.

its more of a hunter weapon actually. the -25 stam really hurts a melee and its drain does almost nothing.

Stop saying stuff like this. You give huntards ideas

A friend of mine played Ret in Vanilla and we did just fine.

I had one Ret paladin in my nax guild in Vanilla his name was Dakari. Did well throughout AQ 40 and Nax. Only got to 4 horseman but never managed to get a kill. But 99% sure if we were to kill it, it would have gone to him had it dropped.

LOL!!! As a hunter I concur.

Yes they were. Corrupted Ashbringer was BiS for Ret as the proc and hit were grade A. The proc scaled 100% from spell damage and healing which a paladin would have a good amount of at that level. It would have been amazing for Reck bombs too.

I remember seeing more ret paladins in the last few months. In 1.1 and prior… the ret tree was just awful with blessing of kings at 31 pts. I feel like pursuit of justice was the game changer in PvP - suddenly you couldn’t just kite a pally for days.

THe Corrupted Ashbringer would have been BiS for a ret at the time.

THe main thing for it though would be the lore. The Sword WHISPERED to you and if you went into Scarlet Monastary with it you would get a special scene between Highlord Mograine and his son.

And as to the people dissing Ret as a choice for Paladin in Vanilla. You obviously didnt play with any good ones.

I played Hybrid in Vanilla and TBC and rocked just fine.

I have nothing against ret paladins. Raided with a few good ones.
What I don’t like is lolret paladins who didn’t know what they were doing , who only tunneled the meters, and complain about dps like akaidian does despite having a support tool and survivability that is unmatched.
Not to mention the single most important buff in the game.

Regardless of the situation, your raid would always be better with either 1 more real healer or 1 more real DPS. Being a warm body is a waste of time. Being sub-optimal is a waste of time. We eventually got our way and became actually desirable and capable in WOTLK and that was the best moment in wow history for me. I just want that, but in vanilla. Was still mechanically everything it was in vanilla, albeit with two extra active spells and a different seal.

Remind me if I am wrong but don’t Ret Pallys have a few dps abilities that are highly effect and exclusive to undead targets. Would it not be possible for a Ret paladin to top the meters in a undead filled raid such as Naxxramas.

They only have one: exorcism. It definitely lends them a helping hand, but it’s not as much of a boon as you’d imagine. It leads to extreme mana issues if you use it on CD.

Not even in naxx could they top dps. Now if you buff them that is something you do have to keep in mind.

ya paladins suck sorry. even in naxx their damage is garbage.

And it’s people like you im talking about. Blind and tunnel vision.

You dont bring a hybrid spec in JUST for damage potential. And any Ret paladin who ONLY stands there swinging their sword isnt , imo, very good at their class.

I’d also say the guys data is flawed and there were several other reporting databases at the time. But he even admits, they didnt have much data to go on, because not many guilds used a lot of ret paladins. I never posted any of my parses to anything that I recall.

All im going to say is the guild I was in at the time had 6 Paladins on its Raid roster throughout Vanilla and TBC. Not every one of us came to every event. 3 of them were Holy. 3 were Ret of some description. During TBC we were running 2 Karazhan groups with multiple pallies in both. We did just fine and were one of the first NA guilds, and server first guild, to complete a Naxx…soooooo guessin that the rets werent a problem.

P.S. Hunters, Rogues, Warlocks etc cant CLEANSE while DPSing either. The hybrids have their uses and its not just purely for DPS anyway.

Silly Death Knight.
