Again, I’m not suggesting divine storm be deleted. Please read the idea before commenting
you kinda are suggesting it to be deleted, but its meh
Except that I’m not suggesting that
Side question: can DS ever rival the single target damage of FV? I see herald of the sun is heavily based around out
oh wow, I hadn’t thought about this. looking at the herald of the sun tree I do think it’s possible with sun sear and second sunrise. I bet if there were any kind of buff to DS with a tier set it might be about the same
DS with max ire gets pretty close to fv damage before FV was buffed in the previous patch. It is what makes DS builds desirable, other then the free ds procs.
This is one of the biggest reasons ret paladins have such a reputation among people who push somewhat higher keys, like the top 1% (so 10x lower than title).
I have so many friends that refuse to run with ret at all, even with how good it is right now. Ultimately the spec is designed to do better in lower keys.
For example, if you look at the end of S3 on raider IO for the top runs, despite ret having the highest total damage output you don’t see ret appear at all until several pages in (and the group with the ret is known to run non-meta comps).
Ret has a gigantic Scarlett letter which is that the damage profile has little prio damage.
Conversely, I’m watching Gingi’s stream right now. He’s playing fire mage, and he is running flame patch one run, and pyroblast/ignite the next run. If paladins had the ability to SWITCH (again not asking for DS to be deleted here for the 10th time) between a prio damage build and a big aoe build I think that would fix much of the issue.
And the divine storm loving paladins in lower keys can do big dam, in bigger keys paladins still have use in this case
