Ret Paladin Beta Feedback

Currently I have some kind of bug where I end up with 123% haste so obviously some things are off but this is my experience so far. Can’t poste in the Beta channel yet so I’m doing it here.

The talent tree is a mess, it has a lot of cool stuff but I feel like the pathing is a nightmare, I don’t feel like I can really choose between ST and AOE, you end up with bits of both and that won’t always be a good thing.

Let’s take a look at some talents and abilities that need help.

First and foremost, Consecration, it’s the centerpiece of so many talents yet it’s damage is absolutely horrible. Definitely needs to be buffed, it also feels really awkward o press right now, with things like Exorcism and Empyrean Power, plus any other procs and such I just didn’t feel like I had much time to press it at all, especially with it’s horrible damage profile currently.

Exorcism, it just doesn’t feel that cool or do enough damage to really justify being resurrected. Needs to see tuning and it would actually be cool if it got more talents dedicated to it, so you could have Exorcism (AOE) vs Blade of Justice (ST).

Empyrean Power, I feel like it’s in an awkward place on the tree, in the middle of a bunch of BoJ talents, definitely could be moved around. It also should be any melee, not just Crusader Strike, or at least double the proc chance. CS has such a long CD these days that you don’t really see that many EP procs.

Shield of Vengeance vs Divine Protection, this is just a bad choice node. Outside of bubble we have no damage reduction, it hurts in all forms of content. Divine Protection should simply be baseline, 1m 20%. SoV node could be a choice between, the normal version, and one that’s used automatically minus the damage dealing portion, you just get an absorb. This would help Ret A LOT.

Justicar’s Vegeance, it should be deleted, I’m not sure how this talent somehow keeps squeaking through every expansion, but’s been dead since Legion and should have been removed in BFA. It’s just not good enough even with the recent changes. The biggest use I could see is in PVP and Ret already suffers so heavily from healing reductions that this talent has basically no hope.

Divine Toll and Divine Resonance, for being “Divine” and having a 1m CD these talents are just not good enough. Ringing Clarity made Divine Toll amazing and without it, it sucks. Either bake Ringing Clarity in, no RNG, 5 hits or just delete it. It doesn’t have the damage to compete with other talents.

Final Verdict, I love FV, it makes TV just feel amazing to hit, the animation is awesome, the sound effect is awesome, but it’s place on the tree is definitely not awesome. I don’t think it’s so OP that it should be so low on the tree, you should be able to pick it up earlier if you desire.

Execution Sentence, I dunno, I didn’t even try it because I feel like it only has a place in raid or maybe PVP. It was clunky in SL and it looks even worse here without Divine Toll & Ringing Clarity combo. I don’t think shoving a bunch of damage into an 8 second window is the best gameplay. I believe Execution Sentence would be much better if it were to be cast at the beginning of a fight and then do damage during execution phase based on how much HP you spent or something like that, much more interesting.

Crusade, not sure if this is bugged but it’s 3m, 3m CDs are almost all bad. If you want more competition between Might and Crusader, make Might 40% damage 20% crit, then keep Crusade 30 30, only 2m CDs though, like you know we’ve always had, or less.

Finally DIVINE STEED, please help the horse. Remove it from GCD and make it base 5 seconds.
