That depends. If for PvP, Unholy. Because here’s what you do: apply outbreak, chains of ice, festering strike, use necrostrike. Death strike whenever you need healing. Keep doing this until the person is dead. It’s simple yet effective. The PvP life of an unholy DK is ironically a glorious one.

Can confirm.
Unholy is a monster in PVP. Not too long ago I held the purple orb in Temple for an entire match on my DK. The bodies left in my wake could have been used as a new ramp out of the pit.

Ret. UH is only good in pvp after being garbage tier for an entire season. Dks are stupid bad in raiding, and they’re only useful every 20% of the m+. Our st sucks without army/lust combo, our AoE is only burst., and we get no attention from devs.

Ret, if only for the slimmest of chances that Blizz will one day give Ret back that ability they had during Legion Alpha (or Beta?) where they would throw the Ashbringer and leap to it, Tyrion Fordring style.

Ret is equally Strong in PVP you there’s like 2-3 classes that can stay toe to toe with ret.

Ret sounds boring but I’m sure it has it’s prowess, I’m more of an unholy death knight than a paladin of retribution.
In the majority of scenarios/situations/encounters, no, it does not.

Paladin because you can heal and are actually useful to the group when Ret is bad.
Then during the odd times when Ret is good you can go destroy people.
What can DK’s do? They’re so gloomy and sad, you have to be so edgy to play that class. The only way I’d play a DK is if they made blood a DPS spec again. Frost was the spec that should have been tanking.
Unholy is just pure edgyness. At least as a Paladin you have style.

Ret, frost mage and destruction warlock are the easy mode pve specs. Ret and unholy are close for pvp.
