Anyone have any input so far in the expansion? I’m seeing paladins everywhere in groups but I’m digging the play style and the fury warrior play style. Just realized survivability for things like delves and world quests etc is like a top priority. I haven’t mained either since bc so I have no idea what playing either looks like as far as m+ or finding groups etc. Would love any advice I also don’t want to play both I have to many crafting alts to keep track of as it is
Paladin has great self defensives. Not the best solo class there is but probs better than war.
Sounds like you’ve got your answer then. Prioritise having fun. You’ll figure out the rest in good time.
Youre right, far too many paladin tourists.
They both feel great coming from outlaw and fighting uphill to do solo content.
Having briefly play both recently, i think both are more than viable.
But i would say Fury has higher APM, basically being a spam class
Paladin in general has more utility.
I would just go for what you like best, i personally preferred Fury.
I blame the axe and the current ease of the spec
I’ve found Paladin a good solo class in both versions.
If you hit stuff getting rough as ret, Slum it in prot. Stuff dies slower. But you don’t die. A decent tradeoff when you aren’t watching the clock so much.
I blame Hallowfalls set. Wish theyd go away, kinda sad seeing other rets in groups doing next to no damage.
Fury if you enjoy non-stop face slamming action constantly spamming buttons and bashing into the next target with reckless abandon
Ret if you want that but without the Charge or Heroic Leap, and the potential to actually have downtime waiting for another button to press
By downtime, they mean “GIVE ME A F***ING PROC BLIZZARD”
It doesn’t happen often, but it definitely does happen…
Ret needs a Whirlwind button. In absolute worst case scenarios at least Fury will have that to fall back on
as a hdh player idk how other classes do it. I really really do not like not having something to press.
I once played havoc with the WoWhead Certified™ recommended “turn your filler ability into a passive off your autoattacks” talent and got maybe 2 quest mobs in before going “how in the honest hell do people actually play like this this is agony-“
Fury warrior is a lot of fun but if you want pure solo capability ret is definitely the way to go. Lots of potential self healing, good defensives, big damage, good utility, pretty decent mobility with divine steed and the speed boost from freedom
was that awhile ago when havoc was just 2 buttons or so? because the intertia movement playstyle is absolute kino. best state the spec has ever been in. there’s always another way to build fury, whether that be through SoF, immo, ect.
When first starting its definitely awful, but overtime as you gain more abilities and increased Auto Attack, it feels good.
nah fury is disgusting I regularly solo a lot of the harder rares and packs of elites and can easily do 15-20m+ healing in a fight bladestorm and enraged regen is also one of my favorite combos its stupid healing
It was during prepatch, just to get my alts to 70. I haven’t actually played DH to any significant degree since Legion. Those were the days…together with my buddy (also a demon hunter) we were always about half of our entire raid’s dps…
Shame that particular group struggled on Ursoc. And Il’gynoth. And Elerethe. I think we beat the dragons of nightmare a couple of times…
Fury is extremely strong to a point in terms of survivability, but has zero active way to improve that survivability. It passively heals for a lot and passively gets a lot of DR.
Ret can actively convert dps resources into survival resources, but isn’t as passively survivable as fury.
Depends what you want out of it really. I would say ret definitely has a higher “cap” of what it can do solo, while fury is a lot easier out of the box and passively more survivable.
