I main a Ret but thinking of maybe Frost DK. Aside from the healing ability of Ret hows the comparison wise??
Just curious on making a DK alt if I would alt it or become a new main.
As a DK main since DKs came out

I main ret. My dk used to my main and is frost. Ret feels a lot better to play than frost dk imo. Ive stuck to my paladin since MoP and while i do have a soft spot for my dk since hes kind of my first character (leveled another character to unlock dks) ret has been more fun to play.
Frost needs a rework in my honest opinion

Depends on what content you intend to do. But if you plan to do group based content, and want to feel even remotely relevant, just go Ret. I will love my class until the day I die (kek), but Death Knights on the whole feel awful to play right now for a variety of reasons.

Frost DK is wreked! Used my expansion boost on one and seen the Dps even at ilvl424 was so bad, i have not played it since i did do so for 10 minutes.
Every one of my tanks did almost tripple that of my frost DK when they were ilvl424!
Frost DK is badly in need of an update. Blood is fun though, and the DK tier set looks awesome this tier.

This just means you were playing your DK in the worst manner possible.
Frost DK is a lot more fun
I’d consider taking a look at Unholy DK instead, but if your really focused on Ret vs. Frost, go Ret.

Have had one since the day they were introduced. I have my original Alliance DK thats frost, and wanted a Horde female Tauren.
My original frost DK is crap even with the Obliterate spec!
You get to toss around magical hammers as ret

Ret imo. Last time I enjoyed frost spec was in Legion, and back in Wrath when it was the tank spec.

I wouldn’t. It’s not any more relevant, and has a less interesting rotation, with a worse damage profile. Nothing quite like only dealing real damage every three minutes because you need to stack five CDs and a trinket to look halfway decent, but anything in between that is near meaningless. Unholy looks neat on pull with hero, until you watch that damage tick significantly lower, and lower, and lower over the fight, and you’re lucky to end in the middle of most encounters.
Every ret paladin on the forum cries all day, so if you wanna be sad and complain all the time, go ret
Frost dk isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be. They destroyed the dps rotation this season, so frost isn’t really as good for pve.
For pvp, unless your team 100% plays with you, you’ll be kited & cc’ed to no end; and it’s IMPOSSIBLE for you to win as frost because your damage is 95% tied to your ability to connect for obliterates, frost strikes, and/or breath of sindragosa.
Any comp that knows ^ can cc & kite a frost dk, making it impossible for frost’s team to win. Even your own team can screw you over by kiting enemies away from you, or by playing in mid where you have to eat dmg to catch up to your oppoents(who seem to have infinite mobility, since you’re being slowed/cc’ed). Your team can also ruin your set up, which uses blinding sleet. Any dmg caused can break blinding sleet, so your team needs to know when to stop their attacks.
Anyone that is 2100+ with frost 100% got carried by their team & by the enemy not countering them. Frost CAN NOT WIN with how much mobility and cc is in this game. If you doubt that, then go watch multi-glads play as frost. They only win matches where the enemy doesn’t cc them. They lose every match where they are shut down.
Gotta say Ret. I have zero experience with Frost, I am trying to level a Frost DK but she is at 25 atm. I have a couple of paladins, Ret is very fun to play and damage output is decent. Plus has more utility imo than Frost.
