I have played my Ret paladin for a total of 13 years, I started back in late TBC. After seeing blizzards updates to my class going into Dragonflight, the expansion where my class might see SOME semblance of being a meta pick after 13 consecutive years (I don’t count the time in MoP cause EVERYONE was busted then) of being a mid tier under dog scraping by on our hands and knee’s just to get invited to groups. But with Blizzards most egregious and completely undeserved nerf to not only ALL of our damage abilities as well as our proc chance to even get our damage going again, a problem we have struggled with for years, and with ABSOLUTELY ZERO feedback form PTR testers playing ret, one can only assume blizzard issued these nerfs out of severe prejudice towards the class and players of said class. I also would like to request a refund for Dragonflight as you have all but sapped any joy of playing the expansion out of me completely. It almost feels like a catch 22, why should I respect your rules and regulations if YOU YOURSELVES 1000% do not listen to the one player base voicing their comments and concerns with your terrible direction of our class practically since it’s inception
just make your own groups
My what a very stupid not solution to the problem
A majority of classes are non-meta. It is the only choice other than meta-chasing or just not playing the game. But you do you.
Ret looks terrible, but suggesting it’s simply about their damage feels misguided. The ret tree just kind of sucks. Like what is with their focus on consecration all of a sudden? That’s never been an iconic part of ret. Nor is it a fun ability!
Well no, that’s a pretty silly thing to assume.
So you think your class is bad because people who look at 0.0000000000000000001% power difference don’t want to pick it. I see many paladins running high keys, I see many paladins in HC and Mythic raids on stream so what’s the issue?
Does it have to be meta for you so you can play it?
No wonder this game can’t get better
Just bubble hearth out of the instance and come back when your wings are up.
It’s not a silly thing to assume and the rest of the people are missing the point entirely of my thread. Ret paladin already faced a LITTANY of problems going into DF with dead talents in our tree like the one that requires 5 holy power to get a sub par WoG heal being forced on us that hasn’t been taken and will NEVER be taken. The multitude of complaints with Divine Steed being hated by 99% of the ret paladin community and a multitude of other problems. The point i’m making is that ret paladin was already a middle of the road sub par class, a 35% damage reduction to ALL of our offensive capabilities is just the final nail in the coffin
I don’t get the point as to why people obsesss over this.
Also: tuning gets done. Other classes were also nerfed hard, but that’s because they werre seriously OP.
Also also: no one here can give you a refund. Contact support.
It’s been changed to 3 HP in dragonflight. But yeah, still sucks.
This kind of feedback though, I’m all for. I think it matters a lot more than simply the damage they’re doing. In fact I think it would only hurt the point about how badly designed the spec is if someone can turn around and say, “But look how much damage you’re doing!”
Sure, i’m liable to say “tuning” not a 35% damage nerf across the board like what happened to ret pally at the beginning of Shadowlands. You must be very confused or you’ve never played a ret pally for any considerable length of time but other classes got nerfed cause they were already strong in shadowlands and without them would have been a DOMINATING force in Dragonflight, now with these nerfs ret paladin had their chance to do good damage and not be treated like feral druid, decline on sight, but blizzard can’t think logically for 10 freaken seconds to go “Oh, maybe we shouldn’t crap on the DPS class that we’ve kept at mediocre at best for so long” weird concept I know
DF tuning has nothing to do with SL. I’m not the confused one.
Moving on.
I always feel like Paladin’s are rp’ing when I read threads like this regarding a game that is 2 months out and hasn’t even launched.
Honestly if things are still “THE SKY IS FALLING” on the first week of raiding in Dragonflight then maybe it’s deserved. But now? Meh.
Beta tuning is always massively out of whack.
Balance Druids have been nuked from orbit twice in a row (like we’re talking 30-50% nerfs overall) and they’ll still be solid in DF purely because they were that damn far out of line.
People look at beta nerfs and see literal 30-50% overall nerfs and panic when in reality, classes doing literally twice as much DPS as they should be is pretty common.
PVE-only Retribution players missing out on committing two years of war crimes in arena.
OP relax. Beta tuning doesn’t mean anything. You have to wait until live.
You probably see prot more than anything. Ret? No you don’t.
No. I am best at a shaman better at one than I am at anything But paladin has always been my favorite class by a massive, huge long shot and I hate what they have done to them in the beta so far. Removed almost all of our good stuff and made them into talent points so we have to waste points just to get back abilities that we already had without talents. And they still have ignored the holy power system. I actually want it removed.
But OP is so mad about it that they forgot how to use paragraphs.
You apparently are cause I have not once stated that the tuning in DF was indicative of SL. But you are alliance so I guess reading comprehension was never taught to you. Let me simplify, classes who are already strong currently and would have had that strength exacerbated without the tuning in DF would have bordered on the insane
Trust me I know what it’s like to be non-meta, being an Enhancement Shaman main since WOTLK.
Not once have I thought the refund of an expansion for it; I just sucked it up, did what I could, and followed the word of Wordup, who is THE Enhancement Shaman guru. (He’s been on Mythic invitationals and is dang good at being Enhancement).
ret is fine in df. check out the beta. before the nerf they were literally 1 shot people with 1 ds
