Almost all of the specs are within 5% of each other. Ret is more than fine

I’m not a pro at pally/ret by any means, but, it’s probably the easiest to play of all my classes, with the least amount of keybinds. I have empty slots on my action bars in ret. No other class/spec I play has that. Combine that with its high survivability, doesn’t seem right that it should stay at or near the top of dps charts. Just my view.
You’re right. Return all the auras, buffs, seraphim, exorcism, real wings and also sacred shield

Genuinely had this mentality a while back too and it took my old raid leader to help me understand it. It’s honestly not so bad like I initially thought. I also believe a lot more love goes into anything paladin than my main class (hunter) although that’s probably for a different thread. All subject to observation and opinion of course.
It’s not even that, if Ret Paladins got nerfed at least he’d be upset about something real that happened.
Instead he’s upset because Rets are doing less damage (relatively speaking) at the 95th percentile across the whole of the mythic raid, which even ignoring the fact that that’s a TERRIBLE way to approximate a specs strength, Affliction basically goes from the worst spec in the game on Sprocketmonger (well, third worst, but its close) to literal best on OAB. (Rets are top 10 on both fights they’re just dragged down by sucking on Vexie which isn’t a real fight to begin with).
BUT OP is a M+ andy. He doesn’t even raid.

Just means your DPS is more based around how long a fight takes
It was like DF when unholys damage was tied massively to army of the dead
Get 2 casts off? Unholy looked amazing
1 cast off? Not looking so good
You aren’t clearing at the same speed they are, so don’t try to use it to judge your own DPS especially when ret is the most played DPS atm
