And even with parse cheesing, which all of them are doing, ret is still disappointedly mediocre compared to most other DPS.

Go make a post saying that classes should be judged and given raid spots based on their performance in a singular, as perfect conditions possible, boss fight. You might as well just look at simcraft rankings.

you never compare parses between classes genius, the whole point of parses was so you could figure out how you were faring compared to other players of your class and spec.
