Resub-wanting to stay Vanilla

Hey all, the servers seem very confusing in terms of how they will progress and from trying to understand the way this will work, it sounds as many are unsure.

So coming back to game, but want to stay in Vanilla. Absolutely hated TBC which is what caused me to stop playing WoW back in the day. Are there any PvP and HC servers that we know of that will stay in Vanilla phase and not move towards “retail light”, aka TBC?

There are still the Era servers that were promised to stay that you can play on.

There isn’t a confirmation on what will happen to these anniversary characters when TBC hits but I think they’ll probably progress.

Besides the original Era realms, nothing is confirmed to stay at 60.

Lots of speculation that the anniversary realms will have an option to go to Era, but again, not confirmed.

That’s a bit of a bummer. I logged in to my 60 on Skull Rock (HC server) and there was 8 people in Org.

Two options at this point.

Stick with Era servers, which will stay Vanilla forever, but there are no fresh servers.

Level up in the anniversary servers, which will go to TBC, and hope they announce some transfer options at the transition point.

Personally, I would say go with Anniversary. It’s still a fresh Vanilla leveling experience bustling with players and will last a year. At worst they don’t have a transfer option and you can decide between giving TBC another shot or re-rolling on Era.

Conventional wisdom has many of us hoping Blizzard will do the reasonable thing and let us do a clone the same way they allowed us to do one with Classic 2019.

Similarly, once Season of Mastery was over they dumped all of those characters in to Era as well once those servers closed, and SoM was a bit different with a lot of changes.

Logically, it would make sense they do it for Anniversary players who wanna stay in Vanilla, but Blizzard isn’t the image of reasonability these days so we just have to wait until they voluntarily confirm or deny.

The fresh anniversary hardcore server is remaining vanilla

Yeah we REALLY need information on what’s happening with these realms / characters , we need the option to copy / transfer to classic era before TBC otherwise there’s no point playing for a lot of people , would also be nice to hear about TBC era or not

Classic era is the only certain option for this.

In NA your most realistic options are Whitemane Cluster (PVP) and Pagle Cluster (PVE)

You can risk it tho and play the new servers but there has been no statement on this and we have been asking for weeks now.

I think most people can make this obvious assessment.

The problem is that it is sub-optimal for people who want to stay in vanilla but also want to experience vanilla fresh (which the anniversary realms currently do accomplish).

Yes ! SO many people love classic and want to play fresh classic but also don’t want to be forced on to TBC , especially if there’s no guarantee of era servers there which would just mean cata all over again , so we are in a tough spot with no word on this on whether we should play era or fresh , I would also like to play TBC but only if they make era servers and same for Wotlk , we need permanent homes for the original trilogy so they have the option to keep doing fresh cycles without people losing all their progress over and over again , would really love some info from blizzard or even just “we see this and we’re looking into it” …

Yup, it’s incredibly tilting because we could have been given the opportunity to save say Pre AQ or something so that AQ mount / Specific naxx event items aren’t a problem for era realms.

I cant wait to Anniversary Fresh to progress from TBC to WoTLK, then Blizzard launches “TBC Classic Fresh Era”.

Here is all you really need to know:

If you want to play the vanilla version of the game without being forced to expansions, then what you are seeking is any server on the “Classic Era” tab at the server selection screen.

I suggest the Mankrik-Ashkandi-Windseeker-Pagle-Westfall server cluster, as it’s relatively active even now, and populations will rebound further in weeks to come once the dust settles on anniversary realms.

It shouldn’t have to be like this though … every classic fresh cycle should have the option to stay in classic for people who want that , just because you want classic fresh DOES NOT mean you want TBC , Wotlk , and especially cata
