Restriction to api range call, affected nameplate, raidframe addons and more

blizzard somehow restricted api range calls to maybe ban weakauras on last boss BUT this also affects nameplate, raidframes and all addons which uses this function. As a healer you cant see now if you are in range to heal your party members. With nameplate addons you dont see the range to your targets. everything is just the same.

this is another BIG L from blizzard because of raid to world first programmers.

in the changelog of elv ui they write Unitframes Range is fixed but less accurate due to Blizzard blocking certain range APIs during combat.

WTF this is an accessibility downgrade for handicaped people. microsoft should intervene asap to rescure the game lo.

If they’re gonna start restricting add-ons, they need to stop making content that absolutely forces its use. The only reason I need to use things like Weakauras or GTFO is because blizzard won’t put the systems in themselves.

I haven’t checked yet but I assume the default raid frames still gray out when someone is out of range?

Never used WA and the other one, no one around me said I was required to use it.

yes its because of that. raid or nothing mentality kills the game tbh.

Weird. I have yet to notice any change with my Elvui frames or Plater plates.

M Mag and Rashok were helped a lot by having one imo.

  • in plater when you have the setting “out of range and isnt your target” then everything is transparent
  • if you have any other option then everything is just normal color but out or range isnt shown transparent anymore

it is. handicaps players. again this change doesn’t hurt the core game but punish the players. 10.2 is a downgrade

Glad i never relied on addons except for a few small ones so these changes do nothing to me. I just use details and titan panel.

Yep, I spent so much time trying to figure out if I did something to my Plater addon to make my nameplates all transparent. I can get it to work again, but can’t make nameplates outside my range transparent due to this change. Right now it’s either all or nothing.
