You’re telling me they have never, ever once bought a 1 month subscription in the past like 6 years to qualify for WoW tokens? They can come back to play…starter accounts are free forever. Let’s face it, how can they “return” if they have not once in 6 - 7 years bought a 1 month subscription? Your friends rely on you to buy them things that much? Can you please buy me wow subscription time forever? I’ll love you long time.

If this is true, it’s a rare enough situation that the positives from this policy aren’t worth sacrificing in order to accommodate it.

Just give them $15 on paypal or something.
The whole point of the change is to combat the ease of making bot accounts, the niche scenario of not being able to gift tokens to friends who haven’t paid in the last 6 years is an easy sacrifice to make, assuming the change ends up being at least a bit effective in bot reduction.

yes ever since legion my friends just play a patch every now and then, wow is not worth the full sub. to them its not even worth the 15 dollars so i would just spend my gold to have a few days of fun with them, I cannot do this anymore
Sure you can.
As someone else said, just paypal them a month’s sub. They can cancel the recurring right after they pay for the month, and then you can go back to doing what you always did for the next few years.

I doubt your friends care about this game at all if that truely is the case. If you’re having to fork it out then they have little disregard for you too.
If I wanted to play with a friend, shelling out $15 bucks once in 7 years is very little.

Yeah the game isn’t worth the sub money I agree OP.
It isn’t bad per se, the change, it is just that ultimately it benefits more the company, the servers, etc… there was a huge influx from the asian market , lots of botters, and constant gold for token buying instead of forking out real money so the cost ballooned to 400k.
This change helped normalize that but in turn now removed a lot of botters who had the supply so more gold goblins are resetting markets etc…
Also, outraged.
why would you go thru the token to buy time for a friend anyway? just giving blizzard more money for no reason. Cant you gift someone bnet balance? I could swear I did a while back.

God forbid should anyone spend $15 once in 7 years, apparently.
Blizzard made this change so we’d be forced to buy more tokens as the price of the token has gone down and the prices of items on the AH have gone up.
even worse: time gets added at the end so I cant buy new tokens until September of 2024…
