Come on Blizzard, this is ridiculous. Are we seriously censoring one of the high points of Cataclysm questing?
What Danuser said here is an unacceptable statement. Restore Garrosh’s voice line. This new slant on storytelling has gotten old, where the silliest things are censored while dark stories are churned out endlessly.
You’ll let Arthas purge an entire city, murdering people who trusted him.
You’ll let him murder his father and turn an entire country into zombies.
You’ll let parents be slaughtered in front of their children in Brennadam.
You’ll let hundreds of night elves and animals burn alive helplessly
You’ll let the road to the dark portal, spanning miles, be paved with draenei skulls.
You’ll let Sylvanas send thousands to the Maw, your unsubtle version of hell
So if you’re willing to tell these evil stories, why do you choose to cower from this word?
If you can’t stomach Garrosh calling Sylvanas exactly what she is, then this game isn’t for you.
EDIT: WoWhead ran an article on this censorship today. Something very telling is that much like in this thread, the overwhelming majority is against the change.
EDIT 2: Danuser has put out further comments explaining the change.
Rather than me paraphrase, people who care should read the twitter posts themselves. Instead, I’ll go right to my response:
While I am sorry that the team member’s kid was exposed to unwanted foul language, this game is rated T for Teen. Perhaps better than any of us, a member of WoW’s team should know that there are far harsher things in this game than the b-word.
This game is not E for Everyone. There are risks attached to allowing a younger child to play these games - I would reiterate that the child will encounter far harsher things than the b-word. The road to the Dark Portal was paved with thousands of Draenei skulls, and Sylvanas has damned many innocents to the Maw.
Respectfully, I stand by my opinion. Please restore the voice line.
