Restore Garrosh's Dialogue!

Come on Blizzard, this is ridiculous. Are we seriously censoring one of the high points of Cataclysm questing?

What Danuser said here is an unacceptable statement. Restore Garrosh’s voice line. This new slant on storytelling has gotten old, where the silliest things are censored while dark stories are churned out endlessly.

You’ll let Arthas purge an entire city, murdering people who trusted him.
You’ll let him murder his father and turn an entire country into zombies.
You’ll let parents be slaughtered in front of their children in Brennadam.
You’ll let hundreds of night elves and animals burn alive helplessly
You’ll let the road to the dark portal, spanning miles, be paved with draenei skulls.
You’ll let Sylvanas send thousands to the Maw, your unsubtle version of hell

So if you’re willing to tell these evil stories, why do you choose to cower from this word?

If you can’t stomach Garrosh calling Sylvanas exactly what she is, then this game isn’t for you.

EDIT: WoWhead ran an article on this censorship today. Something very telling is that much like in this thread, the overwhelming majority is against the change.

EDIT 2: Danuser has put out further comments explaining the change.

Rather than me paraphrase, people who care should read the twitter posts themselves. Instead, I’ll go right to my response:

While I am sorry that the team member’s kid was exposed to unwanted foul language, this game is rated T for Teen. Perhaps better than any of us, a member of WoW’s team should know that there are far harsher things in this game than the b-word.

This game is not E for Everyone. There are risks attached to allowing a younger child to play these games - I would reiterate that the child will encounter far harsher things than the b-word. The road to the Dark Portal was paved with thousands of Draenei skulls, and Sylvanas has damned many innocents to the Maw.

Respectfully, I stand by my opinion. Please restore the voice line.

Lol. Of all the things to get outraged about.

Are people really getting their knickers in a knot for something so trivial?

That could be said for both sides of this coin dear friend.

This game’s story has been going in the wrong direction for a long time. This is just the latest change - and these changes are becoming more common. So now I’m saying something.

To suggest that I’m outraged specifically over just this one thing is absurd.

And maybe that sentence you’ve quoted was referring to Steve Danuser’s tweet. He said it’s “not coming back” in response to people being upset about it. So yeah, I think that’s a foul stance to take when you get pushback about a change.

With the removal of this single word from the chat log how has the game’s story been changed?

Anytime I find a bad word in WoW imma link this to Steve

Simple fix that is easy as hell since they already have a feature in the game.

PROFANITY FILTER
ON / OFF

It is so easy to please both crowds without having to censor your own work. A voluntary option that players can enable to avoid cussing.

wow. to be this upset over that.

i bet you don’t even raise your voice about things that actually matter.

Right? Pizza Hut has clearly been skimping on the cheese in the stuffed crust pizza for years and everyone has remained silent. Well not this Gnome! THE TRUTH WILL BE HEARD!

In my opinion, Garrosh’s words don’t convey as much venom without it.

But you’re deliberately missing the point. This retroactive change is a mirror of their current writing philosophy, where they’re willing to cut out harmless words but still talk about war atrocities.

I think that’s a stupid stance.

It is disturbing how far left of centre blizzard is becoming or rather it is disturbing that censorship is now getting in the way of artistic expression.

Honestly this is well and truely just showing how far they have started to go pro pc if they even have to go back to not only cencer a word but also waste time and energy to change it, they say they don’t have time to do small fixes when they need to do them but they have the time to change dialog from a few xpaxs ago.

That didn’t answer the question. Has that changed the story?

No I’m not. I know the point you’re trying to make and I am telling you that your point is silly.

There is more tone in Steve’s tweet than there is in what Garrosh has to say now

At the very least they need to replace the word so the sentence feels natural.

Seems so.

I’m not, but I’ll debate its necessity until I forget about it.

Just seems ridiculous :man_shrugging:

Steve Danuser should have no right altering anything from before his time at blizzard.

He is spitting on chris metzens legacy. he is nothing like chris, he will never be anything like chris. he needs to stick to his sylvanas body pillow…

Isn’t he the guy who self-inserted as Nathanos and simped extremely hard on Twitter for Sylvanas?

Why are they letting this guy attack the actually good lore?
