This tool will help you determine if an item is an upgrade for you, and improve the amount of healing you’ll be able to do over the course of the fight. Instructions on how to use the spreadsheet are provided therein. Hopefully this is a useful tool for would-be Restoration Druids.

I can do that, but that information is sort of already available. There’s a total healing per spell in the Spell Breakdown window which shows you the total healing you’ll do over the course of a fight.
You can just divide that number by the fight duration. Correction: I can just divide that number by the fight duration. Should be an easy add.
This is fantastic, and well done. I really hope when or if Blizzard gives us class forums you can post it there as well, would you happen to do other specs for druids?
Yes, that would be nice. Then it wouldn’t need to compete with so many other topics.
I could, but that’s a lot harder to calculate until I actually have the proper values for every boss.
For example, Feral (bear) needs to know the frequency of attacks and the damage range of those attacks to know exactly which items would be an upgrade in terms of mitigation.
I think DPS could be calculated more easily, for both cat and bear form, but DPS for a Balance druid would be more difficult because each boss have different spell resistance, and the best gear will depend on how much resistance the boss has.
Restoration druid is really easy to calculate, because none of the healing is actually affected by armor, spell resistance, or damage values. How much healing you do is based entirely on your gear and the spell rank you use. Any spreadsheets I made for any other spec would be far less accurate by comparison.
If I were to do another spreadsheet, it’d probably be for the other healer specs first, as any of my alts are likely to also be healers.
