Hello all,
I have finally narrowed my choices down to Holy Paladin and Restoration Druid. I simply can not decide between the two. I want to Heroic Raid (maybe dabble into mythic one day) push keys as high as I can and start learning pvp. Holy Paladin looks and feels fast paced and seems super fun to play. Druid also looks challenging and proactive style healing with fun focus on hots and dots.
The cons of Holy Paladin is melee mechanics I don’t know if I like dealing with melee mechanics as a healer but melee healing is fun. (I am weird, I know). Melee healing in PvP makes me nervous too. The cons of druid are mild but I don’t know if I enjoy shapeshifting. I guess I like humanoid forms for stuff lol. Anyway what is your opinion on these specs and why are they fun to you? I know fun is subjective but that is why I am asking why it is fun for you. Maybe I can relate! Thanks.
Pally because of one thing. Druids of all specs need to shapeshift constantly and u need to like it because if not it gets old. Also i would try to pick between two things. Light and reactive vs nature and proactive . Thats the biggest things tbh.

Druid, because they rock.
You don’t have to morph all the time. You can stay humanoid. It’s nice for escape tactics, but not required. Each shape has a benefit, but none is mandatory for healing.
The best pally healer I know does the glimmer thing with melee. He loves it. Maybe it’s just because I haven’t practiced it as much (Pally is his main), but I don’t get it. Seems overly complex.

In addition to breaking roots/snares, you’ll probably want to barkskin+bear for big unavoidable damage, or go boomy/cat to help dps. Granted, you don’t have to do those things, but you may find yourself holding your group back at some point. You’d probably be better off playing another healer if you’re only using half their toolkit.

Personally I feel holy pally is too limited, they don’t have that buzz-feeling ‘WOW!’ factor they use to - I enjoy druid healing cause I feel I can be quirky and do what suits for me.
I don’t transform all that much when healing, if so - very rarely. Most the time if I transform, it’s to dance with the other druids.

Playing Resto cat is the most fun I find in this game. Setting up dots, shifting to cat and building bleeds, back to heals, maybe drop to bear to absorb.
Feels like I have a lot of tools to use, and I can provide good utility on top of heals/dps. Ursols vortex feels good to drop, roots, hibernate, brez, a rage reducer…
Instant flight/travel form, gathering while mounted, a stealth, and pair of speed boosts come in handy too.

Druid for flexibility. Especially if you do battlegrounds. Battlegrounds are where AoE heals are really nice, and the Druid is far better equipped there. Also, in smaller ones like Temple of Kotmogu, healers get focus fired down quickly. Staying in stealth until a crucial moment when you pop up and give your team an unexpected advantage is really nice.
They have different kind of mindset for healing.
Paladin have to DPS to heal, otherwise your holy power generation will be awful. If the thought of pressing Crusader Strike while your entire team is at 20% HP terrifies you, then Pally is not the class you want, because you’ll encounter that sooner or later.
And this right here is why I think current HPal design sucks.
Very different play style.
Holy pally → More direct healing
Resto druid → More raid/HoT spamming healing
I love resto druid, I cannot stand holy paladin.
Right now I am playing a Holy Priest, also hate it, love Disc but sadly for this tier Holy was the “better” fit. Sigh

There’s a reason druid is the most played and loved class.
