I have some experience healing with my Holy Priest and am currently leveling all the other healers. Got my Shaman to 54 and just did my first dungeon, but I noticed when they stand in the bad and get chunked I have no clue what I can do to bring everyone up quickly like with my priest. I have earth shield up, cloudburst totem, earthwall totem, healing tide totem on rough fights, and use Riptide for the crit, but it seems like even spamming Healing Surge doesn’t heal the tank much all compared to Flash Heal. What am I doing wrong?
Sounds like your tank just sucked, rsham ST heals are quite strong
they were topping the DPS meters which normally I’d say he wasnt using defensives, but since it’s pre 60 I assumed it was just gear. What’s our best ST? Surge with +crit from Riptide?
Surge is good for dungeons so long as you’re given time to drink. Shaman can be rather gear dependent, plus our Deep Healing mastery makes for some whack healing interactions.
In my experience it can be quite jarring since HPriest has a rather consistent healing amount as opposed to “You heal for X to Y amount depending on how damaged your target is”
Doesn’t really matter how much healing they do if they weren’t using active mitigation.
Surge should be pretty much the only hardcasted heal you use in dungeons other than healing rain
Ok I had been trying to use the Healing Stream to conserve mana since even in normals ive done the tank pretends like it’s M+ and chain pulls. So basically just cloudburst, surge and rain. Thank you.

Even if the tank sucks, Spirit link is still the most powerful cd in the game. Drop it and step into it if you need.
Its up every 3 mins. In casual scenarios (like leveling) don’t be greedy with it. Use your whole toolkit, and use it as much as you want/can. You’ll be surprised how much 
you can heal thru with that button.
Ascendance is basically it. This is R sham’s weak point - emergency healing. You need to be prepared for the big damage spikes with healing tide or spirit link already being placed. Once you are behind it’s very difficult, compounded with grievous. Spirit link can also save someone about to die but GL getting a pug to not run out of it.
Yeah when things are going bad I started popping ascendance and spiritwalkers grace and that seems to help a good bit. As far as spirit link, that may be too much to ask of pugs lol I swear over half were walking out of my healing rain, even though I said that blue circle is my heal. Thank you for your advice.
