Resto shamans are the worst healers in the game

I literally mained a RSham in 2019 classic, I play the same one in wrath, and I was enh main p1 switching to Ele/Resto P2. My shaman will be 40 before reset. Shaman is fine. It’s not meant to be the main healer, it’s a support class with a massive amount of utility. Totems are insane and hands down the best utility in the game, and with totemic projection they’re even stronger now. Get over it. They’re not supposed to be bis healer. Chain heal is OP and when we get into 20 mans next phase it will be hands down the best heal in the game.

Chain is a static spell and will be destroyed vs wg or the priest aoe runes and why bring a rsham when you can literally bring a op ele or enh, totem are good but rsham dont bring anything that other bis sham spec bring. Oh wow we have a 25% buff on hs totem and spring what a massive utility when boss die in 50sec.
In pvp rsham are free kill.

youre a priest; opinion discarded.

Chain heal isn’t OP at all. It’s alright with an overload proc, but it’s clearly one of the worse group heal abilities since Blizzard added things like PoM, Circle of Healing, and Wild Growth.

It desperately needs a range buff, because 10 yards is way too little given that even PoM has a 20 yard bounce distance, and the other healing abilities are 40 yards.

Which totems are making a massive difference?

I feel like the only one that really does much is decoy totem, and I guess disease cleansing on Thermaplugg, but aside from that our totems are very lackluster. Even mana tide is somewhat not even worth it in terms of the talent point investment.

The irony

But what utility are we bringing to justify a 15-20% hps difference between us and the other healers?

Bring priest healers down to the level of shamans and paladins and strip away half of their healing runes. Bet everyone would start crying then. And Shadowfiend being a base line ability is like Blizz just spitting in the face of the other healers.

It’s really such a slap in the face that they made it a baseline ability rather than a rune. It was supposed to be a leg rune, but god forbid priests have to make a difficult decision between mana regen and PoM or homunculi.

Meanwhile resto shamans can only just stare at earth shield and wonder when they’re going to finally be able to use it.

yes, please buff resto shamans so that shamans are the only class people will bring to raid.

shaman to heal, shaman to tank, shaman to dps, shaman to interrupt, shaman to buff, shaman for utility.

we dont want other classes in the game.

everyone reroll horde, pick shaman, roll credits.

You’ve been given the best runes 2 straight phases and have been the only class to sustain S tier in PvP since the day SoD launched. Literally nobody cares.

My point was mostly to say people shouldn’t feel deterred from inviting a Resto Sham to a raid just because ‘they arent the best’

I agree there, but WoW has a very elitist min maxxy playerbase. The final boss of Gnomer is a super easy mechanic fight with no enrage timer. Officer in my guild healed a pug that everybody gray parses and they killed it in 12 minutes. As long as you do mechs right anyone in the worst gear could clear Gnomer. Healers even have infinite mana cus the button mechanics. Problem imo is SoD appeals to a subset of Classic mmo gamer that sucks at more modern mechanics.

I wouldn’t be surprised if ST is mechanically toned down due to the difficulty of Gnomer pugging

Can they even use it if you have a shaman tank? At the very least, it needs a rework to not blast the target shaman’s self shield.

No we cant. Or we wont even be able to heal for a few sec before ooming(it replace sham rage). If it was at the belt spot i would be happy.
Ya it also eat the targeted shamy shield if he got one active.

So nerf enhance.

I don’t understand why you’re lumping all shaman together when some (like me) don’t even play the spec that everyone hates right now.

That might be a bit of an overdramatic take. The facts are that healers (including paladins) do not have much parity with priests right now with the (arguably stupid) mechanics being thrown at them. Blizzard created an obstacle course for a dirt bike and only gave resto shaman a boat.

News flash bro, every healer has utility aside from mage and mage does DAMAGE. Actually mage has interrupt, decurse, and is super strong at doing mechanics(like button presses) with blink. this is in no way an excuse for shaman to be in a horrible state. Resto shaman is straight garbage in PvP. The spec needs some major improvement

Now that windfury isnt shaman exclusive, shaman has no worthwile utility. Priest has PAIN SUPPRESSION, druid will have the same with ally barkskin. A bunch of meh totems dont compare to BATTLE REZ. Shaman is left in the dust.

I like how youre bringing up classic wow shaman like it has anything to do with the SoD landscape. News flash kid, runes are the most important aspect of your class and resto shaman has the worst healer runes in the game. Resto shamans viability completely hinges on Shamanistic Rage which is a testiment to the spec being a complete joke.

Overload also has so much anti synergy with healing wave. Pretty much forces you to downrank most of your healing wave casts, otherwise youre overhealing every time it procs.

Yup pretty much this.
That why i only have 1 week or 2 in me until i give up on sod.

Based on what? Priests bring more to the group than just healing. They are the only defensive magic dispel for Horde and bring a huge stam buff. PI probably makes them more desired than other healers by itself.

The biggest unique utility shaman bring to gnomer is grounding totem for sprocketfire, which some people think is a bug, but whether it is or not it’s a counter balance to paladins being able to bubble.

Totem utility also forces shaman to drop buffs temporarily.
