Now that Mythic dungeons are out and healing actually matters, I’ve tried Totemic Chain Heal and Farseer Chain Heal and they seem to be roughly the same HPS wise. Totemic seems more fun but somehow I go OOM even with minimal Chain Heal casting, but Farseer seems to have issues with massive party wide damage which appears common in this dungeon set.
What’s everyone’s take?
Both are good I think you can realistically play whichever one you prefer.
I personally like totemic more so that’s what I played, you can certainly go OOM if you are not careful but felt fine for the most part, just taking a few zips between packs when possible… I think there was only one or maybe two times where I needed an actual mana break (did all 8 dungeons last night).
I have specs for both Totemic and Farseer. I am enjoying totemic more overall because it feels more of a modern spec with healing rain being moveable.
I like Totemic but I don’t also go Chain Heal right now. Seems a bit overkill for M0 at least.
Going Totemic is pointless if you’re not speccing in Chain Heal talents because the free Chain Heals from totems that consume the talents are a huge part of the healing.
Anyways, I did find a trick to help mana consumption in Dungeons when using Totemic: don’t use Downpour, since the mana cost is super high and the PuG situations where all of:
a) the whole party is injured
b) within the 12 seconds of placing Surging Totem
c) more than 2-3 people are standing in the Healing Rain and not spread out
is very rare and spending that much for a 10% HP buff on the tank is low.
Checking Details it barely did any healing for my M0 runs so I swapped it with DRE and it works a lot better both for throughput and mana usage.
About totemic without chain heal - you’d think so on paper, but that’s not how it felt. The playstyles seemed to complement each other well in a middle-of-the-road way.
That could change with gear or M+. Or totemic & chain heal together could feel better with better gear. Tbh, I didn’t find chain heal to be very beefy right now anyways. It seems to overlap with the role & healing profile of totemic. There’s just little reason to go totemic & chain heal right now in M0 and heroics, unless you like the playstyle.
Agree on downpour. I’d like to have it, but not quite good enough. I think the point is to stack the 10% health buffs, but it’s not mana efficient, hard to make use of, and not needed right now.
