Phase 7 has actually been a very good phase for resto shamans in general. From a raw throughput perspective, they are the second best healer on horde (healing mages are completely out of scale compared to everyone else). The haste from all the gear and the ability to use either the increased CH power or decreased CH cast speed tier bonus helped a lot in increasing healing power. However, the tier bonuses from naxx are underwhelming.
- 2pc is good for snapshotting a strong ES, but actively removes a button
- 4pc has a terrible proc rate and only exists on a spell used for tank healing
- 6pc is nice, but the seal power makes it unnecessary to push content
With phase 7 nearly at the halfway point, the resto shamans from the shaman discord felt it was a good time to start looking ahead at the next phase and what the tier should look like. In general resto shaman just needs more buttons to press and more reasons to press the buttons we do have. Here are the ideas we came up with to help press more buttons.
-Not a tier bonus, but move Healing Rain to the boot slot. Healing rain will not be used as long as it has to compete with overload. Merge Ancestral Awakening with the back rune/turn it into a book.
-Healing rain lowers the cooldown on your riptide when healing a friendly target
- Proposed with the idea of giving riptide charges and removing the increased chain heal effect
-% of amount healed by healing wave becomes a HoT/Absorb on the target
-healing wave has a %chance to spawn healing rain at the target location
-Casting 3 different healing spells empowers your next healing spell. Similar idea to the unleash life talent from retail
-riptide applies healing rain to the targets group
-frostbrand weapon now causes riptide to spread similar to burn and flameshock
-healing rain can now be cast with power surge
