Resto shaman mana issues?

Anyone noticing a bit of a mana squeeze on rshaman? I’m still leveling, but there’s not really that much to heal in normal dungeons and even so I’m noticing my mana ticking down much faster than my priest or druid, e.g.

And I’m wondering what that would look like if I got back into raiding this patch, where you need to sustain for up to several minutes. Shaman has never been the most mana efficient, but usually it wasn’t too big of a concern if you didn’t go overboard with Healing Surge or Chain Heal it wasn’t too too critical.

I’m hardly going OOM in such easy content but I don’t even notice mana on my other healers it’s such a non-issue by comparison. Is that just totemic, does it get better at max level, or am I just worrying about nothing?

I have been running Rsham farseer in dungeons and have been fine with mana. I’ve never come close to going OOM. Outside of the beginning of the dungeon because I’m running Elemental doing quests and start with 0 mana when it puts me in the dungeon. Really stupid and should be changed. Doesn’t happen with PvP.

Im running Farseer in 80 heroic dungeons and never having mana drop below 80% thus far. I leveled up running Totemic and that was a bit more mana intensive but I was using Chain Heal alot.

It’s tough to tell though without hard content where we have to heal a long fight. Once we get M+ and raids out it will be a bit more telling when we get those 5 min boss encounters

Chain heal build sucks mana in dungeons like always. Riptide build is fine mana wise.

Yeah, I think that’s probably my issue - when I skimmed Icy Veins I saw they strongly suggested switching over to chain heal build for totemic (kind of required with the synergy) and it was probably just jarring to see the difference between that and the more Riptide-focused build, plus I ended up having to shuffle my talents a lot more than I thought I would.

Yeah, having both totemic and chain heal is a decent drain on the mana with this early gear. And overkill for dungeons right now. So I’d recommend moving out of chain heal stuff since it’s not needed currently. You could consider that mana regen talent from lava burst too.

As others have said, it’s a build playstyle issue. Totemic Chain Heal and you’ll be oom instantly. Farseer Healing Wave build and you have essentially infinite mana. Our 4-set tier will make the Farseer Healing Wave build absurdly strong, by the way. Might as well start practicing it.

Farseer riptide spec seems to be very good with mana. Only spec I had mana issues with is totemic chain heal build and that was only when I was spamming chain heal too much.

I almost want to play the chain mana suck build because instant healing rain + being able to relocate it every 8 seconds is just too good in groups that act allergic to the blue circle.

It’s not really a problem if you just use totems to chain heal rather than chain heal to chain heal as totemic.

The thing about mana with shaman is they don’t have many efficient casting options.

If you’re casting either surge or healing wave much your mana will drain constantly because neither is mana efficient.

To heal without spending a lot of mana you basically just cast riptide and totems and put down rain and only cast surge or HW or chain if you have to. You don’t really need to cast HW ever, especially after you get the set bonus.

They really should cut the mana cost of healing wave in half so it actually has a purpose in the kit as the efficient filler spell.

TLDR: if you’re running oom consistently you’re probably casting HW/surge too frequently.
