Resto Shaman Mana Consumption

Why is it resto shaman healing abilities consume so much mana? Majority of the time in m+ keys I’m drinking in between pulls, unlike all the other healers that can keep going without stopping once it seems like. Why are we the only healing spec that has this issue?

Raid is the same, I’m out of mana by at least 40% health left on the boss. I’ve been slowing down casting heals because of it, still topping charts in raid, but still – I hate it that I run out of mana.

I was ready to call it quits on my resto shaman because of mana consumption issues.

Does anyone here know why only resto shaman experiences this, how come Blizz isn’t addressing this?

I have the same problem. Thought I just sucked but I ran a key with a very high io rshaman and he had the same problem. It really sucks though. Other classes don’t even use mana it feels like. Especially priests.

I’ve done +10s and half the heroic raid. I’m never oom in m+ and rarely in raid. Spam chain heal less. Spam healing surge less. Think about your heals more.

In a 5 man, always prefer healing wave to surge except for emergencies. Use totems as much as possible- don’t drop healing steam immediately, wait for some damage so it’s free chain heal gets used. Use ns on cool down. Use multiple singles target heals over chain heal when possible. Drinking should be an rare things.

In raid, stop worrying about parse and typing healing meters in low damage fights A shamans job is not to heal small amounts of damage, it’s to heal when burst comes out. Use more single target heals and throw some damage in when there’s minimal healing. Then unload when the boss is dropping major damage. Learn when to drop your big CDs for maximum effect.

We are reactive healers. Don’t just go nuts during the boss pull. You need to know when to do what. I have zero problems in + with mana on bosses. Raid is a different story…. If I play my cards right I’m ooming right at the end

Thank you so, so much for your feedback! I can picture exactly what you mean :blue_heart:

At what key level did you really start to notice the problem? I’m only doing +4’s but am working my way up.

I do 10s regularly and drink maybe once or twice a run. Maybe i need to push higher to start going oom.

You need more crit. You’re at 20%. Need to be around 30%. That’s if you main healer. I heal 10s perfectly fine while maxing mastery and haste but I will run out of mana on 2 large back to back pulls. Also, use lava burst as much as possible.

Use my loadout 1 for talents.

Lower keys and I had wrong enchants for my resto shaman. I’ve since fixed my enchants and you can view my character. I’ve been running 10s and in 11 keys now, hardly have any mana issues. It gets easier in mid to high keys as characters are geared and players know the fights better.
