My Discipline priest 601 Ilvl does more damage than my Resto Shaman 652 Ilvl, and my Shaman’s damage contributes nothing to healing and is mostly all hard-casted. Does anybody know Blizzard’s design philosophy behind this disparity? I am genuinely confused lol.

Are you playing totemic?
You can do fairly decent damage in aoe with it. Should do more than disc with that level of difference in gear.
I play totemic, but the damage is nowhere near Priest and MW, which both benefits from doing damage to heal. My point is we have the worst dps AND it doesn’t synergize with healing and I think it’S pretty dumb design wise

Well, there is nothing easier than hitting cd’s, dropping totems and standing there watching every single health bar fill with no further effort.
Our chain lighting should at least hit 5 targets.
Their design philosophy is that they dont care
