Resto: Nourish worth using?

Has anyone specced in and tried using Nourish after it got its buffs? I’m mainly healing mythic’s and PvP, figured I would give it a try this weekend when I can actually put in some time and test it. Just wanted to see if others have already tried and what their results were.

Tried it ptr, tested it a bit yesterday when servers came up.

Short answer: no its not worth it.

Long answer: the hots extension combined with soul/natures swiftness is just mana efficent enough that if we get another sunking type fight or just an absolute tank destroyer itll be ran but to keep the buffed hots going infinitum not really for the healing it does itself. Cant think of any practical use in mythic+ unless youre pugging and just really want an emergency instant cast with its other modifier.

Dont pvp enough to give real input but the instant cast seems like it could work there since as far as i know any big healing spell that cant be intterupted is useful when fighting other players.

Overall no real place in current meta but i do like it as a future proofing talent. A heavy mastery build in a single target focused meta would make good use of it.

Swiftmend still fills the role better. IMHO. Plus, casting Swiftmend makes your Regrowth, Rejuv 150% more effective, and Wild Growth 50% more effective. So, it has HUGE senergy.

I was really excited for the nourish change. Upon using the talents I’m fairly disappointed.

My expectations and personal calculations have this healing for 150k not the 70k it appears to be hard capped at.

Nourish, triple bonus from mastery. 10% mastery, 10 HoTs, 100% increased healing *3, 300% increased healing. The Synthesis talent gives another 100% mastery bonus or simplified, *4 should be 400% healing or maybe up to 600% depending how they actually stack and add these modifiers.

25,000 base tooltip + 400% (*4) should be 100k atleast but that’s just not happening. I can toss out wild growth, convoke, really add up maximum hots possible, I can’t get this pushing past 80K.

So I said OK but extending lifebloom is interesting, since lifebloom extensions under 4s should bloom lifebloom, like swiftmend causes a bloom. Nope it’s bagged just like invigorate, doesn’t cause a bloom so it’s honestly just bad you lose the whole bloom aspect, the extension feels bad and more like a nerf.

It feels like a big talent sink for something that costs alot of mana and it’s disappointing at best. I could just regrowth which hits both lifebloom targets for more healing and slightly less mana, and take the 40% Crit talent for the boosted healing.

The 20% PvP nerf to lifebloom feels bad and the subsequent buffs to things like disc priests that purge your hots already make you feel really bad in my first night playing.

I don’t know if my calculations and expectations of these spells are wrong or these are actual bugs that Blizzard needs to resolve.

OK, I am changing my tune on this. Nourish is really nice. I went with the one that becomes instant cast. It’s been a very nice save addition. If that cant keep a person alive, it wasn’t healable.

Had to give up some things, but over all I like having it. Check my Resto Talent build (May not have updated as of this posting though). Seems really solid for Mythic+ 5 mans. Probably not so good for raiding.

My biggest issue with nourish, well a few thing actually: no other talents really support it, clearcast won’t work for it, and the mana cost is a bit much. 9k is a high price compared to regrowth that gets talents to make it cheap, higher crit, etc etc…

If it was cheaper, even weaker as war healing to compensate but because a cheap healing filler that would be great

Decent talent in the wrong spot on the tree. It’s interaction with regrowth doesn’t make sense.

As it stand we have 3 direct heals, Regrowth, Swiftmend, and now Nourish. If you’re going with a Regrowth centric build, there’s not a lot of reason to ever use Nourish. Regrowth’ing over a regrowth hot boost regrowth crit rate. Clearcasting procs, and other talents all work with regrowth. There might be a very few niche cases but for the most part regrowth is better 99% of the time.

So then maybe it works with a rejuv focused build? Except it has no synergy with a rejuv/swiftmen focused build. Its also in a bad spot in the tree for a rejuv focused build.

You can put together a very niche lifebloom focused build, and here it could be useful, but would really only be good for Sunwell/old school style ‘spam the tank’ type encounters. Your dps and aoe healing would suffer greatly.

As per usual with druids, the devs clearly aren’t playing with them and are just throwing random stuff in hopes that something sticks. Nourish could be a great spell… if it had talents to support it and was in a good spot in the tree. ATM it’s got neither.

thought of trying it out, BUT it is 9000 mana. Like no, didn’t even test it. Not worth

You only cast it as a save. Stack your 3 Regrowths to make it instant cast, then just use it as a save. This gives you Swiftmend and Nourish to help in those sticky situations. IN 5man that’s useful (especially considering swiftmend has a cooldown). The mana is irrelevant because you shouldn’t be using it very often. Maybe once per pull or every other pull (if that).

For raiding, it’s useless.

Nourish has NO synergery, and the recently nerfed Adaptive swarm will heal more than nourish will with Mastery:harmony. Hell even a regrowth will do more. 5 casts 168k healing, 68k over heal, Adaptive swarm 9 casts 509k healing. Its not worth the sacrifice. I even tried it in raid, i lost 7k healing as a consequence. Its just not good for anything, even with the extra dead talent node.

They REALLY want us to like Nourish. They just keep pushing it on us. It’s like they took it personally when we didn’t want it in BfA, so they just keep shoving it at us with different positions on the tree to see if we’ll bite. “What about…now? No? Okay…what about now?”

No, dude! We don’t want it!

Even those of us who use non-meta builds find very little use for Nourish, and though I will try it out because they’re clearly trying to make it useful, we’ve been healing without a ST tank heal for so long that we either figured out HoT stacking or rolled a different class by now.

I think if clearcast procs could apply to it, it might find traction. The 3x mastery is nice but unnecessary, and all of the other things they’re trying to tack onto it already exist elsewhere in the tree. Soul/Swiftmend is a better use of mana, imo, and gives us situational choice.

I use Verdancy (small raid group w/heavy melee comp), so I neither need nor want an extension on Lifebloom (Forest’s Flow). I don’t need a HoT extension because I have Flourish for that. I just…don’t see the point of it. Wild Synthesis sounds good on paper, but what that means is adding a lot of cast times to a spec that just doesn’t use cast times. It’s a flash heal/greater heal combo that no druid ever asked for. I may try it as a tank or “oopsie DPS” saver in M+, but even there…I like my build the way it is and asking us to add a new keybind to a spec that was already complete and healthy seems odd to me.

Nourish takes too long to cast.
It costs too much mana.
We’ve got a complete toolkit without it.
It doesn’t synergize well with our other pillars.

I’m not sure why they’re quadrupling down on Nourish, but someone on the druid team REALLY wants us to use that heal. I’d be more excited if they let clearcast proc for it or if they reduced the cast time and hit it with a cooldown.

I think going the 2 points deep in Nourish makes it nice, but the problem is that those 2 points compete with other extremely useful abilities. There is a ton of stuff at the end of the resto tree that is really good and I would say most healers will not give those things up easily.

The other thing is that you have to ask yourself: “Were resto druids struggling? Is there a need to pick Nourish up?” The answer is no. We all know that resto druids are on top right now. What we’re been doing works very nicely.

This is what ive been saying too. Clearcast and swiftmend should work on nourish imo.

I feel like this is a perfect example of unnecessary bloat. Resto has an adequate, engaging number of healing spells and keybinds as it is. Nourish should be replaced by something else that is passive but augments an existing ability.

Kul Tiran druids are missing their black/green/yellow thistlehawk variants. These were available on BfA PTR and featured in promo art, but have yet to make it into the live game.

I feel like honestly if the Nourish was a talent that replaced Regrowth and did the Regrowth HoT and stuff at a longer duration that it would be takeable.

But since it doesn’t benefit from Clearcasting and it still has a long cast time its pretty lame and lackluster.
