Resto help with affinity

So I’m currently levelling this guy up as Resto/Balance (kinda switching back and forth between the two here and there, definitely doing most dungeons as resto)

When I look up what talents I should be using for Resto, they suggest guardian affinity, but that sounds as though it’s for max level progression raiding/higher m+ if I’m reading it right.

So what I’m wondering is; do I really lose anything from picking balance or feral affinity? And to a lesser degree would either of them be a viable choice when I do make it to max level?
I think balance affinity might be nice considering that’s the other spec I’m playing as it is, and then I could sort of keep the same playstyle between the two specs more or less :man_shrugging:

Thanks in advance guys!

Balance doesn’t do as much damage as feral.
The choice is between feral and guardian 99% of the time unless you need to be at range and do damage or if you need the extra range. (King rastikan mythic for example)

The switch hitter azerite trait is super strong with guardian giving you 20% avoidance when you use the heal (avoidance cap) so I use it in raids or very high m+ if I am worried about being 1 shot. For example the first boss in toldagor on 19s

Other than that it’s feral all day. Get yourself a nice set of trackers for the dots and energy and combo points and try to keep as many dots up as possible. You will frequently out damage the tank and occasionally catch a dps too.

I found a weak aura package calles “catweaving” which is excellent and I can’t recommend enough.

Feral for dungeons. Guardian for raid. Balance for…uh…

I guess you might use Balance for a crazy room coverage fight like Mythic Fetid, idk

Thanks! Exactly what I was hoping for!

I used balance for king rastikan because it meant I could stand outside the bwonsambdi circle and still reach the tank but I think that’s the only time I have used it.

Also for the op balance using mana to damage is a problem on progression fights but cat and bear form don’t.

Yeah I considered that. But our tanks were fantastic at positioning and we’re tanky enough that ducking in and out of the aura for a few stacks wasn’t a big deal.

That was the regen phase anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol I’m jealous. Mine weren’t at all haha

In general… I recommend.

Feral affinity for PvE group content.

Feral affinity and Master Shapeshifter with warmode on solo play.

Balance off spec for warmode off solo play.
(Despite secondy stats and azerite traits not being ideal, resto gear is still good for balance spec if youre out questing.)

Gaurdian affinity with Master Shapeshifter for PvP/Arena/BGs.

Situtionally you may find some things work out better for you once youre more experienced but this will be a good starting point.

Edit* removed some redundancy.

Thank you! I ended up taking the advice for feral affinity, and frankly I’m glad I did.
I don’t really have a problem switching in and out of feral to heal/dps as long as I’m paying attention and the tank isnt pulling everything in the instance like a maniac
And I definitely feel more useful than wrath moon/sun fire spamming, but that might just be a visual thing that makes me think that haha
