So, i’m in a pickle, i wanna heal but i’m not sure what one is the best that i know that can just simply heal and not dps and heal coz i’m old school. Let me know thanks.
I want to believe resto Druid is looking pretty good. But if you want a “better” healer, resto shammy is high on the charts.
Shamans are amazing right now.
I mean if you’re doing m+ you’re gonna find yourself dpsing regardless. Like it’s just part of it. And the damage a healer brings can help determine how much more affective they are.
Of the two I think druid has less use from dpsing if you adamantly just don’t want to do it.
All healers should dps if there’s nothing to heal. Mobs dying faster is preventative healing.
If you want to play a D tier healer, I’ve never felt the expectation from others to dps as hpriest and our healing kit doesn’t require us to do so.
We still can, tho. Despite being called healers we should have been playing the support role before Aug was ever conceived.
Resto Drood but i am biased.
If what you want is to stand there and heal, Resto Druid may be more your playstyle.
But yeah as people have pointed out, if you’re doing M+, you will most likely be expected to dps when there’s downtime.
While you’re right in a sense…preventative healing is also preventative healing. So there’s no real need to DPS unless there is some sort of timer one is trying to beat (and only if that timer is in doubt of being reached). Normal preventative healing will do fine as it always has.
Dealing dps to mobs reduces the amount of time they are alive to prevent them from doing damage at all. There’s no need to burn extra healing resources when dps could be done instead. Classes do have things to maintain, but no one should be standing there, and overhealing should never be a goal.
Resto druid healing is amazing, it feels like I have so much hps whenever I want. The only problem I can think of is huge AOE hits that can one shot as rdruid only has one external DR (ironbark) and barkskin bear form for personals. So like BRH boss 1 or 4 have huge hits that I don’t know how rdruid handles, probably not easily, but when the health bars don’t go to 0 I think the hps is really impressive. The damage (catweaving meta) is more complicated than other healers but you can also just not do it and relax for a bit. Aoe sunfire and moonfires will probably be fine even up to 23 or so. With how light these timers are, if there are only a few deaths, nobody cares what dps the healer did, that’s not the reason it wasn’t timed.
However rdruid has some serious mana issues right now, you can see the top rdruid Seraphinexd oom like 30 seconds into a boss fight but they are so good they don’t need it, they somehow heal the group enough to kill the boss even with barely any mana.
Between those two options Paladin, though the tier set for Resto is clapping right now.
I just find new players don’t understand HoT layering for Resto as easily the way they get other healers.
Hey. 3k healer here, multi class healer as well. If someone tells you resto shaman is good right now, just move on and read someone else’s comments. That being said, “good” or “best” really depends on what you’re trying to do. Like right disc priest is timing the highest keys, but that’s more about DMG mitigation cooldown and doing good DPS in premade groups where people don’t take avoidable or unexpected damage. Resto druid is also being used in very high keys. I don’t play druid, but it’s doing so well because it heals for a crap top and does good DPS. Same with mistweaver right now.
To answer your question directly, I would definitely say resto druid right now over holy Paladin. Especially if you’re going to hop on wowhead or some content creator and get paladin information. The popular paladin build right now is actually just plain bad at healing right now. There are some changes you can make to the build that make it viable, but if you don’t already have a depth of understanding about the spec, you wont know what to change.
Out of curiosity, what makes the popular build so bad?
? Druid catweaving dps is sitting at about 80-120k dps right now.
I Meant more of a “Their toolkit requires it.”
This person doesn’t want to dps at all and a druid can, theoretically just hang in the back and heal and be effective from a pure healing standpoint. Is a good way to play? Obviously not. But they can.
Edit If I’m wrong then whoops go Pally. Idk how Pally plays since the update.
I see you’re point now and for the most part its a fair one. The only counter I would say is by doing what you suggest they would oom real quick.
I played hpal last season, playing rdruid now, and this was my take, too. If a healer absolutely wants to do zero dps, rdruid is a better choice than hpal.
Play what you enjoy the most. That is more important.
This season resto Druids are more meta than holy paladins but the opposite was true last season so chasing meta is a fruitless endeavor unless you enjoy changing toons frequently.
It is if they just want to play wow to chill and have fun and enjoy healing ![]()
Restro druid by far, I went into playing restro druid blind and I love it. I wouldn’t call myself a pro just yet, but I am improving each and everyday.
