Resto Druid Feedback (Suggestions)

Update Mastery

Mastery: Liveliness
Your druid healing over time spells last [3.0 sec] longer and heal [5%] faster.

Your druid healing over time spells also transfer to a nearby injured ally when their target is at full health.

  • Simplifies numerical balancing logic for resto healing output.
  • Addresses over-healing issues common with Resto Druid gameplay.
  • Encourages more talent diversity since stacking HoTs isn’t as critical to gameplay.
  • More interesting than Resto Druid’s current Mastery: Harmony.

Update Base Spells

These suggestions are made with the above-mentioned changes in mind.

Regrowth
Heals a friendly target for [269.88% of Spell Power] and another [51.84% of Spell Power] over 12 sec.

Casting Regrowth without designating a specific friendly target causes it to apply onto a random nearby ally, prioritizing the most injured party and raid members.

  • Added smart casting, similar to what’s on many Augmentation Evoker spells. Smart casting has several benefits and creates room for more interesting player-chosen complexities and dynamics. Evolve healing back to MoP smart healing for all healers.

Swiftmend - Passive
Regrowth’s cast completes instantly when applying to targets affected by any of your healing over time spells, consuming those effects and additionally healing the target for 50% of their remaining healing.

Swiftmend’s cooldown matches the total duration of effects it consumes

  • One (or potentially several) less keybind(s) to worry about.
  • Introduces greater levels of skill expression through potential synergies and uses.
  • Swiftmend charges can be kept track of as a numerical counter on Regrowth’s icon.
  • Verdant Infusion talent would likely need to be tweaked for balance.
  • Grove Guardians talent would likely need to be tweaked since it casts “Swiftmend”.

Rejuvenation - Costs [2.5% of Base Mana]
Heal a target for [103.52% of Spell Power] over 12 sec. Rejuvenation’s mana cost increases by [2.5% of Base Mana] for each active Rejuvenation.

Casting Rejuvenation without designating a specific friendly target causes it to apply onto a random nearby ally, prioritizing the most injured party and raid members lacking Rejuvenation.

  • Added smart casting (see note under Regrowth).
  • Reduced base mana cost from 5% of Base Mana, introduced ramping mana cost in light of Mastery change (see Mastery: Liveliness above).

Update Talents

These suggestions are made with the above-mentioned changes in mind.

Magic Entanglement - Passive, replaces Nature’s Swiftness
Once every 30 seconds, Entangling Roots is instant, castable in all forms, interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 3 sec.

Skull Bash and Magic Entanglement place each other on cooldown.

  • Grants Resto Druids access to a “spell-casting” version of an interrupt.
  • Retains access to instant cast Entangling Roots.
  • Balanced cooldown to still incentivize use of Skull Bash in certain scenarios.

Twinleaf - Passive, updated, add pathing from Ysera’s Gift and Flash of Clarity
Rebirth is instant, castable in all forms, and restores 200% more health to its target.

Swiftmend gains 1 additional charge.

  • Shifting Rebirth’s benefits from Nature’s Swiftness into this talent.
  • Improved pathing options.

Nature’s Splendor - Passive, updated, paths from Ysera’s Gift
Swiftmend heals for 15% more of the consumed healing over time effects.

  • Adjusted to work with Swiftmend instead of Nature’s Swiftness.
  • No longer on a choice node.
  • Updated pathing.

Passing Seasons - Passive, updated, paths from Flash of Clarity
Swiftmend’s cooldown is reduced by 20%.

  • Adjusted to work with Swiftmend instead of Nature’s Swiftness.
  • No longer on a choice node.
  • Updated pathing.

Proliferation - Passive, NEW, shares choice node with Efflorescence
Rejuvenation duplicates its healing onto a nearby injured ally without Rejuvenation, if any exists. Proliferation reduces the duration of Rejuvenation each time it occurs.

  • “Passive” option to Efflorescence, with different synergy options.
  • Plays into the new Mastery fairly well.
  • Verdancy talent would need to be tweaked to also affect up to 2 targets recently healed by Proliferation.
  • Spring Blossoms talent would need to be tweaked to also apply to allies healed via Proliferation.
