How do resto druids do in 5 mans without a res outside of their brez? I have always wanted to level one but the lack of res has always stopped me
Just don’t let anyone die at a higher rate than once every 30 minutes. If you’re doing your job well and people die then it’s not your fault. Someone pulled aggro or someone pulled too many mobs.
I have no problems healing 5 mans at this point. But I also have around 750 +healing.
They’re the worst healer but are still good enough
It’s rarely a concern. Once you’re just a little bit geared, people tend not to die. If they do die, few instances have a very long run back.
Druids are excellent healers, actually. A good player using a resto druid can easily top healing meters in raids.
It’s stacking resto druids that’s not good. Ideally you’d only have one resto druid in a raid as their hots override each other’s.
goblin jumper cables helped me. also just try n get a pally/shaman/priest dps
Invite one of the other classes that can Rez, or if someone dies they just run back? Wasn’t an issue for me leveling up. And I healed most dungeons as feral spec.
I leveled up with a Resto Druid and the only draw back is you gotta run back if you wipe, which 98% of the time isn’t a big deal.
Maybe twice along the way we had to restart an instance cause of respawns and a bad res situation, but I’ve had that happen in groups with priests too. If the druid knows what they are doing, you will breeze through the dungeon just fine.
Resto druids are arguably the best main tank healers. More and more fights require quick ‘oh crap’ tank healing and nothing recovers from things like Firemaw Thrashes better than NS and swiftmend … but sadly a ton of youtubers and druid guides tell them not to spec into swiftmend, which keeps them from utilizing the one advantage they have as healers.
The druid idol in AQ40 will also be a big boost for them:

That item makes healing touch the best HPS in the game
Don’t level as resto. Best spec for leveling is feral due to no downtime and increased movement speed. You should be tanking dungeons. If you feel the desire to heal while leveling collect a healing set and make sure to invite a priest or shaman/pally to your group.
I do just fine without swiftmend. I’m running a 21/0/30 regrowth spec. You definitely don’t need swiftmend to do well as a resto druid.
But yes, they’re excellent tank healers. Keeping up two hots on the main tank does wonders.
You’re missing the point. Swiftmend adds something to the raid that a priest cant bring. 21/0/30 is a spec that attempts to be a priest. Dont be a priest, be a druid.
my guild has 2 main tank healers, 1 priest 1 druid. the druid (our only druid healer) tops charts every week.
but yeah, nothing wrong with druids for 5man instances, if you guys wipe it was a bad pull either on the tank for pulling without mana or the dps for doing dps things.
only thing i hate about druid healers is no disease cleanse, so i gotta bring my STV jungle remedies.
Not at all. It’s just a great resto spec for relatively quick encounters and still a very good spec for longer ones. Not as good as moonglow for longer fights, but the only long fights right now are Razergore and Nef and even those you’re not mana starved with appropriate consumes.
Swiftmend provides you with opportunities to get a clutch heal off on tanks, sure. That could be useful. I’m just saying you don’t need that to do well. It’s a trade off.
Restro druids don’t let people die. It’s very easy to heal 5 man’s. I would not recommend playing a druid if your a newer player to WoW. Druids require alot of macro, knowledge, and min/max to excel. I’m the class lead of the druids in my guild and we love our off meta specs. I’m a bear tank.
That’s not really your problem.
- DPS should let the tank get threat. If they don’t, you don’t have to heal them. Running back can be a powerful lesson
- Rebirth should be saved for in-combat situations, for the most part. DPS can run back if they die. Most groups can still handle trash with only 2
- Paladins, shamans shadow priests, other druids and most engineers have ways to contribute. There are 4 other people in a party of 5, and there’s a good chance that one or more of the aforementioned will be in a group
No HoTs for you. One year!
That is the last thing that should persuade your decision. You have to want to be a Swiss army knife and want to get into the macros.
Movement speed only matters for levels 20-30 as you get cheetah and even then if you run dungeons you still have to wait for the group.
It’s pretty stressful because you can’t let people die. If ya kid are bad and mobs r all over you, it makes it really difficult. Once you get some good gear it obviously becomes easy.
