Resto DPS question

How much should I be doing? I find myself having to spend a lot of GCDs to throw HoTs up on people… especially with a group that isn’t kicking or doing mechanics correctly. This leaves very limited time for DPSing…

I’m Balance affinity. I believe that’s the way to go for typhoon in m+?

what level play are you at? DPS plays a much bigger role in much higher keys (maybe like +20’s) and on boss fights in tyrannical…but it doesn’t really matter too much below that (as in, i wouldn’t say there’s any sort of dps check for your healer required to complete the keys).

You are correct in understanding that your dps is largely determined by how skilled your team is - because then you can and should be spending globals on your damage abilities.

sowwy I don’t have a number for you, but i don’t think you need to worry too much…lining up a good convoke will almost always be more than enough if you know when to use it! :black_heart:

Not playing high yet. Just gearing this guy up. I noticed my last run no one was kicking or avoiding stuff, so I was stuck spam healing.

Speaking of convoke… I generally wait until I’m in an eclipse state or… the other state and then I use it. Unless, of course, I need to get some healing out pretty quick.

when you get to Pride, one thing I try to do is line up solar eclipse before the prides, so i can spam wrath during them (and also be able to use my resto heals).

(I spam wrath even if it’s not solar though because it sounds cool :boom: )

If people don’t interrupts and don’t know mechanics, it’s nothing much you can do if people get hit with hard damages. Druid has very lil ohh crab buttons. But u do have convoke for night far which is the biggest and the main ohh crab button. Nature swiftness is another one with regrowth but not a big heal. Beside those, u just gotta put hots and spam regrowth. Oh if U have for flourish a talent, it’s great for aoe heals while having hots on players.

There isn’t really a set number. It’s going to vary based on your group comp/skill, what dungeon you’re in, what affixes are active, etc.

One simple thing you can do on virtually every pull regardless of size is keep Sunfire up on all targets. It’s extremely efficient as pulls become larger and the damage will add up.

Balance affinity is what most resto druids play, mainly because of the damage output with boomkin convoke (+ Heart of the Wild).

Honestly on a newer healer I would focus almost exclusively on throughput/learning the basics first. Not to say that damage doesn’t help, but you can get KSM on a resto druid without doing crazy dps. The best thing you can honestly do is just play normally without stressing to do damage. After running enough, you’ll naturally get more comfortable and you can try weaving in more damage until you also feel comfortable doing that.

It really depends on the group and the week. Sometimes I can do 1k DPS throughout the entire dungeon run. Other times I’m lucky to break 500.

So I know holy paladin is the outlier, but is 1k fairly on par with the other healers?

if your DPS aren’t doing mechanics and are missing kicks there’s really not a lot you can do in any healy spec to be putting out damage.

My gear is ~220. If my group is executing well, I’m usually sitting around1.5k in the overall. If not, I might be as low as 800. That’s more or less consistent with what I see other Druids do when I’m tanking. I usually see Disc Priests and Pallys in the 1.2-1.8k range. Holy Priests I’ve seen are almost always sub 500. Shammys are pretty variable. Most do very little DPS, but I’ve seen good ones break 1k. I can’t remember even seeing a Mistweaver this season…
