Resto concepts to improve fun in gameplay

Just a thought for the developers after some recent m+ runs. Would love to see some talent that could translate overheals from rejuv and regrowth into absorbs. TONS of overlheals there, my last run over 50%. Lot of waste there. Maybe a choice node where overheal gets transferred into damage (for m+) or a shield (for raid). Would be pretty helpful for raid especially. I feel like I struggle against healers that burst players up to full while my hots just sit there and tick uselessly. Maybe one of those versions is a 4p bonus so you can assess the impact before changing a tree up.

Had another thought as well. There is SO much micromanagement of hots, could we have just the lifebloom be permanent until you cast it on someone else? That would be a great quality of life increase. There is enough watching numbers tick down on raid frames as it is. Thanks, would be interested in the community’s thoughts as well.

The Minor Power portion was totally passive. It seems like it would be easy for them to re-implement something like this.

While I wouldn’t oppose an absorb shield to help mitigate from some of the overhealing resto druid has, I worry it or our HoTs would have to be tuned to account for how powerful being able to invest GCDs now into healing later is. That’s basically the reason our HoTs are tuned so terribly already; our mastery allows our healing to spiral out of control.

What I would like to see instead is for our HoTs to store some amount of overhealing to be applied whenever the HoT expires or is refreshed within pandemic, the same way Lifebloom does (except for the dispel aspect). This way we’d still get value from the overhealing but we’d be limited in how much we could get.

This is a bit of a shameless plug, but I created a post a week and a half ago about changing our mastery where I included this piece as a part of our mastery. This was my mastery idea, and whether they do anything to our mastery, they could add the stored healing blooms as a talent option in the resto tree instead:

Mastery: Flourishing Blooms
Your healing over time effects tick (mastery)% faster and last for (mastery)% longer. Up to (mastery)% of overhealing caused by your healing over time effects will be stored on the target, blooming when the effect expires or is refreshed with less than 30% of its original duration remaining.

I like the idea. Blizzard would have to figure out a way to rebalance the bloom aspect of the spell in general and for Verdancy. But I’m certain that could be worked around fairly easily.

They tried the over heal to shields thing with borrowed power twice for healers in azerite power and the nightfae bonus and i think they just decided it was to powerful ( since theyve been moving away from absorb heavy healers since legion’s holy pally and disc priest rework) or im sure we would have seen it when they were stuggling to design anything new or interesting for us in the talent overhaul.

And as much as i loved old living seed i dont think itd fix anything with the current design of damage profiles.
In well set up premades it would just be another pre-ramp tool, something else to track trying to get near cap before big damage like the rest of our hots.
In pugs unpredictable constant failure damage would prevent it from building high enough to cover the big mechanics unless it was coded to never overheal, itd play as a slightly more convoluted % buff at that point.

If we didnt have so many buttons already id say the mop explosive mushrooms could work, stores the overhealing and then we can choose when to pop it, it was 2 seperate buttons tho and the mushrooms reset the store when moved so in keys itd probably fall behind if you built it up just for a pack to die.
Maybe a rework of it to be tied to efflorescence, overhealing buff is tracked on you and then just 1 extra button to make it pop and heal 3~5 people in your efflo for the overheal amount. Maybe a choice node with verdancy to match boomy having a passive and active version of wild mushroom, or a replacement for spring blossom since it heals for nothing alone and is just a pad to the mastery stack total.
