I decided to log back into the PTR today and can confirm Ancestral Guidance is still being capped for Restoration spec’s healing despite initial announcements from the Devs saying it would not be.
Should this be intended and does go through, as per my previous post, you may as well throw your Resto Shaman in the dumpster when it comes to Raiding.
Restoration can blow through the HPS cap incredibly easily so this will be a huge nerf to Ancestral Guidance and our throughput in raids. We also will not be able to really allocate AG as a CD since it won’t be able to top people up, further limiting our raid viability. It also limits play-style and talent options for our already narrow build options.
10.1.5 not looking good for Restoration my fellow Shamans. I highly recommend making your voices heard or we will be in a very sorry state come 10.1.5.
Edit: Looks like this was clarified as intended in a recent blue post and we were compensated 3% for it. While 3% is not quite sufficient at least it is something and I can understand wanting to play it safe, so thank you for that Devs.
I am sad to see the alternate Talent build go away since it will be no longer viable and hate being relegated to strictly the Chain Heal build but, it is what it is. Devs had other plans I guess and forking Ancestral Guidance for Resto specifically must be too difficult. Maybe we’ll get a talent rework for some of our under-used talents soon to spice things up, but it’ll just be all Chain Heal in the mean time I suppose.
