I’ve been to try and get a rare to replace my uncommon, but after trying for a week and seeing none I’m wondering if they’re even still in game ? I’ve only seen the Arcane Eyes out twice during that week also…
Just use a stone?
Not sure if the pet journal in game has time and weather information anymore. I was catching my last missing legion ones and had to use wowhead to determine that there was a “night” only pet. On wowhead, the restless shadeling is only “early morning” with the comment consensus being that is only available from midnight to 9am Pacific time. Not sure whether that is daylight savings or not. The dailies reset doesn’t change with daylight savings time and neither does midnight salmon proc rate.
I’d second the druid above me. Get a stone. Anything with time is going to be difficult with CRZ.
Can confirm that as recently as last November they still spawn precisely at midnight Pacific Time. Means staying up late if you’re on East Coast.
A batch of about a dozen appear and seem to stick around until last one is killed, have seen them still available five hours later.
Apparently, you’re unfamiliar with an item known as “Marked Flawless Battle Stone.” Simply hearth to Dalaran (or your Garrison) and visit an NPC named Serr’ah (or Lio the Lioness if you’re Alliance). In Dalaran, these NPCs can be found in the Magical Menagerie. As you hearth into Dalaran, leave the stairwell into the city proper, take a right, and enter the first shop you see on your right. That will be the Magical Menagerie. See Serr’ah (or Lio the Lioness, if you’re Alliance) and purchase a Marked Flawless Battle Stone with Polished Pet Charms.
Then open your Pet Window and summon your Restless Shadeling. Target the Shadeling, then open your inventory and click on your Marked Flawless Battle Stone.
Your Restless Shadeling will now be rare quality.
Any pet you have that isn’t Rare can be upgraded to Rare quality with a Marked Flawless Battle Stone. Also, certain pet quests reward Marked Flawless Battle Stones. Be on the lookout for them.
When I got mine, back when they were first out, I waited until 3am EST (12am PST) and they spawned in the crypt. I searched, along with others there for a rare, best I ended up with was a Common so I just stoned it to rare. Takes too long to search for a rare sometimes. Sometimes is best to get the best quality you can then stone it to rare.
This is what I would do. Stones are plentiful and easy to obtain.
Update: Just checked and Shadelings all over the place at stroke of midnight (Pacific).
I helped a friend who is new to Warcraft catch a couple just a week back.
There were 4 up one could access easily at 2am realm time on Aman’thul.
I know all about the stones, I really don’t like using a stone on a wild pet which should be able to be caught. I have been at the site from 2am CST ( MN PST ) to anywhere until 11 am CST and NO Shadelings at all. Thank all of you though for your replies, I may have to wind up using a stone even though I don’t want to.
Have you tried searching on a different character? I’ve heard of a few instances where phasing was the problem, and the workaround was to use another character.
