RestedXP addon causing botting bans?

Has anyone been banned for using RestedXP?

Me and a real life friend have been leveling alts together. Early today, while questing, he randomly disconnects. When he tried to log back in it said his account had been banned. Upon further review, the ban stated that it was because of botting. I know this guy pretty well, I’ve been to his house while he’s played. Every time he is on I whisper him and he responds. He is too stupid to even know how to bot. I know he was not botting.

The only thing I can think of is that stupid addon he forced us to follow, RestedXP. It’s frustrating because he kept passing up quests I wanted to do. Anyway, that’s kind of off topic.

Could this addon, which is available on CurseForge, so I assume it’s Blizzard approved, cause a false positive botting investigation?

I highly doubt it was RXP (RestedXP). I see many Streamers use it.

Your post just appears to be…Salty, I guess is the word?

He was probably using a Botting program or something.
Well Deserved most likely.

Every time that stupid addon spams the chat with how long it took someone to level up, I report it for spam/advertisment.

Turn that crap off or don’t use the addon.

Do you report questie too everytime someone completes a quest objective?

Does Questie announce to everyone around that it was used to help complete the quest?

Doubtful it was that addon, but I agree that it’s stupid. I don’t understand why people use an addon to rush the journey to the end, which for most stops upon reaching sixty. Yeah, it seems stupid.
“Yeah, I’m gonna play classic HC, but I need to get it over with asap!” :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Initially I was against using the add on but I did try it and its nice (for me) when I have to relevel and I want to get thorugh the low level zones as fast as possible to get back to the level where I was before quicker.

Not everyone is going to like using add ons amd thats okay. The difference between this and rerail is that in retail its basically requires to use thwm. Here it is a preference, which is how it should be.

RXP isnt a bot and isnt bannable.

Your friend was using a bot or third party software in the background that got flagged. Things like crypto mining software etc can get flagged sometimes.

Well, if you’re friend got the ban-hammer you might ask them if they’re using bots and make sure you don’t run what they’re running.

If not, I’m sure you can wait for an appeal and he’ll be back to the action soon.

Let’s hope it all gets worked out, eh?

God, I hope so.

I can turn those announcements off myself.

Questie only announces to your group. RXP announces to the whole Dang-blasetd zone! I put everyone using it on my ignore list, but hope that people using it could find out how to NOT announce their levelling progress and time spent!

Clown addon, using an addon that tells you what to do 1-60 to get to 60 asap, in a gamemode where whole point is playing 1-60 and having fun.

No, you don’t. People know serial killers for years and have no idea that they were doing it. You see what he wants you to see.

I’m not gonna say your friend was botting, but I will say that it is totally plausible.

Thats the point for you. Other people have different opinions.

A bit overkill. Reporting someone for using the addon? Get real.

I don’t use RestedXP as I feel it’s way, way too linear and interrupts my personal flow of play, but I don’t go around reporting people for spam just by using the addon.

Don’t put something past someone because you think they’re stupid…all it takes is installing certain programs…don’t have to be a genius. Its usually stupid people who think they wont get caught doing it. Your buddy couldve been bored one night looking into it and installed a program they detected.

I could care less if someone is wants to pay money for an addon to pilot them through the game.

But I don’t want to see it’s advertisement every time someone gains a level using it. Turn off the advertisement and there’s nothing to report.

This was clearly you, and you were clearly botting. You said,

No one would be calling their friend stupid, and the use of “he is” instead of “he’s” tends twords a lie or deception.
