Rested XP worth it?

Icey Veins says it takes 10 days (resting) to get max “Rested” at a rate of 5% every 8 hours.

The question is, is it worth it? Seems trivial to me.

And do our heirlooms stack? Which will reduce the xp consumed by 360%.

It isn’t

Nope the set bonus is how much reduction you get while wearing it.

Ahhh. Duh, I overlooked that.

Um… if it reduced rested XP consumed by that much, you’d gain rested XP every time you kill a mob. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, not really. It’s just a little bonus of 5% of a level during the time you’re sleeping.

Otherwise, I don’t think you’d have enough rested time to get 150% of a level of rested XP, even if you leveled 50 characters sequentially.

Worth what? Rested isn’t a levelling boost, it’s to make up for time you didn’t spend playing.

worth what? trying to get full rested? no. Its just there you dont try to get more it accumulates when you dont play to help you keep pace. its a catch up mechanic not a speed up mechanic.

Really depends on who you ask as well as the situation.

Now, if all you have is one character that isn’t at max level? I’d say don’t waste your time building it up. It can be useful if you’re someone that perhaps only plays on the weekends, but to actually wait the full ten days, you’re actually going to artificially inflate the amount of time it takes to hit 60. You’ll get a different number depending on who you ask, but generally 1-60 in Retail takes most folks about 15-30 hours depending on your knowledge of the class you’re working on, the general leveling flow, ect.

However, if you’re working on two or three alts at a time that you jump on when the mood strikes you? Yeah, by all means go for it. In fact, if you put them on a rotation, then you’ll generally have a fair amount if not full rested XP by the time you come back to one of them.

With all that said, I feel rested XP has far more value in Classic once you start hitting higher levels. 1-60 in Classic is far more of a grind than it is in Retail, and while the numbers needed to level do take a bit of a nerf going into BC, keep in mind that 1-70 in Classic BC is also a bit of a grind.

Even so, once again don’t go out of your way to build up rested XP, especially if you’ve only got one character you exclusively focus on at a time that you play fairly frequently.

Unless you are a monk…

And then it is a bit of both (enlightenment buff extends rested xp now instead of giving bonus xp)

Not really. Leveling is super quick…even paying for a boost is a waste of money/gold. People have been doing it in hours.

I suppose if you are trying to level all 50 characters on an account then I suppose a rotating schedule of playing 1 in dungeons until bonus XP is burned through at least would give you some measure of optimization in that project.

I alt hop a bit, but since the level squish I deliberately don’t do it because I’m actually trying to slow down my progression.

In any case the argument has been made that it isn’t worth it - they’re right.

This is the key.

Early on, the XP is so low that the rested bonus is just not there.

You blow through levels quite quickly, which mean you consume the rested XP very quickly.

But later, especially above 50, it’s certainly worth it.

As someone else said, it’s a catch up mechanic. If you’re just burning through a character, it’s moot because you’re more interested in calendar time, getting the character up as fast as possible.

But with alts, it’s certainly worthwhile to park them and let them gather some, especially if you’re rotating through them, or working them off time with your main.

And key point, particularly at the start of an expansion, you MUST log in to your toons to start the rest XP clock ticking. If you come back to a max level alt from last expansion, it will have no rest XP. So in the sense, its certainly worth the 30s to log in to all of your alts at expansion start to let it build, even if you won’t be back for a month.

Grinding out levels will always be faster than gaining rested. Even a REALLY slow leveler is earning more than 5% XP every 8 hours.

Like others have said, rested exists purely as a bonus for when you haven’t been playing. Although in retail it’s pretty redundant when you’re getting like 20-30 minute levels ups.

Worth IT? Worth what? Sitting in Oribos waiting for rested xp to stack? Then no. But otherwise it’s just free xp. Just leveled an alt from 50-60. The rested bonus lasted till I was almost 54. Didn’t bother resting after that of course.

Hey, I actually did just that  Well, it wasn’t 50 I think it was 40 something. What I did was level a character, run out of rest, take him to an inn and level the next character :+1: By the time you work your way back around to character 1 you’d be at full rest again.

But no, I wouldn’t advise playing around rest.
