Rested XP still feels bad, and it should be removed

All it does is reward people for not playing/make you not want to play.

Logged in, got 2 levels rested. Once I ran out I noticed how much lower the XP was(dungeon grinding, so it’s basically just mob killing/benefitting from the 200% XP). It made me just want to log off for another week and build up more rested XP.

Game shouldn’t feel like that. If you want to level as quick as you can time wise, it makes sense to just keep waiting for rested XP, the difference could be a total of 8 hours /played over say 10+ hours of /played

With rested XP, a level took about 40 minutes(2 dungeons)

Without rested XP, a level took a little over an hour, sometimes needing 3 dungeons.

Who exactly is rested XP for? And why does it exist?

What a terrible idea.

It’s a nice bonus for people who like to take their time and/or can’t play everyday. If it has you feeling like you need to wait for rested xp, that’s a you problem.

Rested XP encourages people to take breaks, encourages people to dust off old characters and level them, etc.

In any case, if taking a greater amount of calendar days to level is fine as long as you save two hours of time in the game, then go for it, I guess.

Its a catch-up mechanic meant to rubber-band people with less time up to be equals with people that grind relentlessly.

I’m alt bouncing right now. It seems to be working very well, for me. Makes things super quick, tbh.

This morning, I leveled a blood dk to 63, still have half a level worth of rested on that toon. Once I empty that one, I’ll switch to a blood dk on another server. Right now I am running a resto sham through DF intro stuff. I’ll switch to another resto sham, or a priest or whatever, after that ones rested xp runs out.

you get max level in a couple days and its a non issue?

i think its only meant to help altaholics, play 8 alts rotate the rested xp and eventually get em max level.

if youre the kind to only play your main just ignore it competely, simple.

I like this idea. A lot.

I think we should take it a step further though. Remove the rested EXP, but keep the tracker live. So when a player logs in and should get rested XP, but instead they get no quest rewards until what would have been rested XP is gone. Then let folks get gear. That will teach them for leaving their computer chair.

It was introduced to reward players for being logged off. The initial implementation of XP in alpha was to have xp gains degrade over time as you played, it was to disincentivize people from playing 12 hours a day. Turns out people really didn’t like having their work limited like that, so instead Blizzard decided to reward you for being logged out.

Think that’s what I will do, just bounce around on different alts - until eventually they are all 70. I usually just get my tanks/healers to the new city, sit there and dungeon queue.

Rested XP is great if you level up 3 toons at once. When it stops, change toons. It’s also great for extreme casual players, since they are always rested and are still way way behind the curve.

I like the rested xp as an option.

??? It helps alts. Why remove it when there’s literally no downside to it lol

But you’re not factoring in the amount of time it takes to wait for that rested XP to build up. So it is actually more inefficient to do it this way than it is to just keep playing.

So say rested XP is removed like you want it to be. All that it means is that if you take a break from the game or take a break from a character, that character will just level up slower overall.
