I Q as shadow for a random bg.
Our 15 man arathi team has no healers.
Other team has multiple heals.
I want to respec to help balance my team.
Why is this not allowed?

It’s even worse when you queue with both heals and dos checked then get called as DPS with no healers on your team.
We used to be able to swap. Bring it back.

It’s also annoying when you have too many healers and can’t change to a DPS Spec and than proceed to play a very slow and grindy game because nobody can die but you can’t connect any kills either.

You can change specs before the match starts.

I don’t think you can change roles, though. I haven’t been able to.

You can change specs, but not combat role.
So you could say, as a Priest, change between Holy and Disc, but you couldn’t change to Shadow as it’s not the same role.

I think the intention is to prevent teams from swapping roles to better counter the enemy team, or more likely to prevent role stacking, making games truly random.

This. Nail on the head. I kind of dig the randomness. Although, I am always a healer so I don"t have to worry about that part.
It occasionally allows you to hard carry when you only heal. IMO they should mandate a 2/3 healer minimum at the start for the 10/15 BGs.
I agree with this. Sometimes im the only healer and it can be daunting lol. Healers can make or break a game. In saying that though, you are assuming your healers wod be half decent lol.
you can’t change from healer to or from anything, everything else is allowed.
i.e. tank to dps / dps to tank
Yeah you can easily end up with 2 out of the 3 healers practically still wearing their Northshire robes, so it wouldn’t be perfect but it’d help.
Even a single healer.
