I recently leveled up on a Vanilla server, and I was very happy with all of the classic features except for one that I would recommend modifying. In some locations, such as Wailing Caverns, when we died we had to run back half way across the Barrens and then all the way through the caverns to get back to the instance. Does anyone else feel that this could be updated in locations such as this?
Nah. A corpse run is little punishment for dying as is.
The other mmo I played before that, you lost experience and could possibly de-level. It could take an hour or in some cases more just to get the lost xp off one death.
don’t die and you won’t have to corpse run
Nope, corpse walking and reclearing is part of the difficulty. It actually incentivices people to not suck.
Were you Alliance? Alliance has a much worse corpse run than Horde. Even so, no to this. These things are part of the experience.
Wait til you wipe in Maraudon.
I’m looking forward to corpse running again, it means people will actually try not to die. Speed running started to become a real problem after the dungeon finder came out and it made everyone so adhd they had to constantly rush through everything and often die.
Well your not going to want to die in classic dungeons and that’s a good thing, it keeps the group focused and together, the way it should be.
Nope.
I do not.
Classic should not be about convenience.
If Classic is not convenient enough for you, you will probably be able to find BFA on the same launcher.
You know what my previous response was too brief and mild.
There is almost no penalty in WOW for dying. Corpse runs are about as severe as it gets (unless you are an epic decked out plate wearer.) My recollection from WOD and Legion LFD wipes is that people get a little pissed off, maybe rage quit the group and that is it. Classic requires, after wiping, communicating and formulating sometimes complex strategies that take advantage of everyone’s skill set. How is this a bad thing? Wipe runs is an opportunity to actually figure things out and arrive at solutions. This is so much more rewarding than what is currently offered with LFD.
*** Edited for clarity and because language exists for reasons…
So don’t die.
Nope, not a chance in heck. Better not skip leg day.
14 years ago during AQ40 C’thun progression we used to have a roll-off to see who was the unlucky soul out of the 40. We all rolled, and the lowest roll had to wait for everyone to mount up and put them on follow, as they ran back to the hallway outside of C’thuns room. Everyone else got to get up, stretch, get some food or a drink, and relax during the 5-10 minute break and subsequent corpse run. Poor Aether had it happen to him 3 times in a row once. Good times ^_^.
Eventually they added the portal NPCs to send you to the Twin Emps lair. Was much nicer then.
Your implication is that respawning is somehow “outdated.” This implies that no respawns is objectively better. This is like saying blue is better than red and if you disagree youre wrong.
Thanks for the responses. After reading these I agree with the general consensus.
I doubt they would do this due to the required proximity of Alliance GY’s to Horde levelling towns.
The Horde only had to run from Crossroads, if I remember correctly. I haven’t the faintest idea where alliance would spawn. Ratchet?
It just puts more pressure on staying alive, I’d rather not
The penalty for dieing in early WoW was perfect imo. Just enough of an inconvenience to let you know that you need play better but not enough to drain the fun from the game.
If death doesn’t matter at all it makes the game less exciting.
Bring a priest and don’t fill your plate before you’re sure you can clear it.
Welcome to Classic, Demon Hunter
