Had an idea for a simple addon I might find useful and want to try making it. I have found the basic introduction wiki that has gotten me started but I wanted to ask if there are any additional (up-to-date or still mostly relevant) resources I could check out that just give a broad overview of the process?
Anything to do with UI creation would be good because I havent found anything on that yet.

I’m guessing you already found the WoW API Wiki then, but if not the link is embedded.
If you’re familiar with programming, but not Lua specifically, the Lua 5.4 Online Reference is pretty handy.
I think what you really want is a guide/walkthrough. The book
World of Warcraft Programming Reference on Amazon is your best bet (although you might find it cheaper at other booksellers). It seems dated as the 2nd edition was published in 2010, but it seems to give an overview of the process, creating frames, working with graphical UI elements, etc., and one of the book authors also created TomTom, which is a pretty popular (42M downloads) waypoint feature add-on. I’ve never found a free online site comparable to the coverage provided by the book, but maybe someone else will post such a site.
Good luck with your addon creation!
