Since the patch yesterday, my resolution and layout (action bars, etc) are all screwed up. I have the resolution as high as it will go, and I still have things overlapping. Even things like the chat box doesn’t match the layout in edit mode. It is much smaller than the “box” shows in edit mode, so it is difficult to find the correct positioning. Is there going to be anything to fix this?
Same thing happened for me. Not sure if you have an Nvidia card like I do, but I fixed it by going into the Nvidia app and turning off Image Scaling for WoW. For some reason, it was the only game on my list that didn’t use the default setting of “Off”. I had to manually switch it off. Really weird.
This may not be exactly what’s going on for you, but maybe it will point you in the right direction. Hope this helps.
I appreciate the suggestion! I have a MacBook Pro, so no Nvidia card. I checked the display settings, and nothing like Image Scaling exists. I am hopeful that todays reset will fix some of the issues. Even the login screen is messed up. There is a giant blank space under the “actual” character selection screen. So I can’t even see my 1st character. I can select it just fine by using the campfire or simply pressing the up arrow, but it is still annoying!
I’m having the same issue; launch screen is too high with a big space underneath. I’ve had to go into the resolution settings and slightly enlarge or reduce the size and it will reset to proper size. I’m using a macbook pro with Apple graphics chip.
I should’ve noticed you posted this in the Mac category. Sorry about that.
And, yes, very annoying! I was going crazy trying to figure out what was going on. Hope it gets fixed for you soon.
My fix for this was command-M to put it from full screen to a window, then do it again. Hopefully this helps for you too!
This did help! I think what also helped was changing resolution from 3456X2234 to Default (which is the same). It could be a combination of the 2, or 1 or the other, but either way, the loading screens are back to normal! I still have 4 hours to go to finish setting up action bars and the layout, but 1 thing at a time! Thanks for your suggestion!
This is also happening to me on a MacBook Pro. There is a problem with the Shift UI Down on the notch mode setting. If you change it to Overlap, it could fix space the problem.
I’m not noticing a difference Between Shift UI Down and Overlap. But that does remind me of another issue. When trying to zoom out on the map, minimap, or scroll all the way down in chat, it will pop up to 1 level before that. So the chat will go to the bottom, then scroll up 1 line. And the maps will zoom out, then zoom in 1 level. Very annoying! I didn’t have this problem in retail before the patch, but I did have it in Beta. But I (foolishly) believed it was just a quirky Beta thing.
My god, yes. Same here. I know that if you scroll down really fast and hit the bottom of a window in another application, it kind of does this bounce animation on MacOS. However, in WoW, it feels like it wants to do that animation, then doesn’t do it, then instead scrolls you back up a little bit. HIGHLY frustrating trying to zoom out on the world map.
edit:
Also, my esc menu, and character selection windows are massive and no amount of editing settings fixes it.
Yes! I think they screwed up the resolution. I had to spend forever trying to fix everything. But the esc menu takes up 3/4 of my screen and no way to shrink it!
CMD - M twice works to realign the home screen for me. Didn’t fix my resolution issue. I don’t know what magically happened the 100th time I changed graphic settings to my desired resolution but it finally stuck. Sorry, not much help but I was able to get mine corrected after an hour of screwing around with it.
