Didnt really know where to post this. Ive recently come back to wow after a 6 year hiatus and decided to start running old dungeons to get some mounts I always wanted. One of these mounts is the Reins of the Vitreous Stone Drake that drops in The Stonecore on both normal and heroic. My question is, can I continuously run the dungeon, kill the boss and then reset on normal and still have a chance of the mount dropping every run?
Drop rates are exclusive to each run, so yes, if it drops on Normal difficulty, you’ll have a chance of it dropping every time you reset it.
Just keep in mind that the drop rate is not cumulative, so it will have a 0.5% (or whatever) chance of dropping every time, and running it 200 times will not guarantee that it drops for you.
As long as you’re not under a lockout you can try it as much as you want.
(For example, trying for a raid mount would be once per week on that character but alts could still try it.)
You can run heroic once a day and normal as often as you want. There is a cap of 10 runs in 60 minutes and, as this drops from the second boss, you may have to cool your jets for a bit when you reach the cap.
Drop rate is 0.8% on normal and 0.9% on heroic.
Timewalking drops a different mount with a drop rate of only 0.1%
