I messed up and put all my points into the wrong area ( leather working ) is there a way to reset it? Or am I just out of luck?

No, there is not.
Since DF, professions have not started with any way to reset knowledge point allotments.
During TWW, the devs added a one-time spec change NPC, but it wasn’t part of the original design, and it was one time only for reasons that may not apply to Midnight.
No…and it sucks.
If you’re a leatherworker and didn’t spec into gainful gathering and trophy taker, you’re not going to be able to finish the skinning weekly this week….unless you’re willing to buy the peerless plumage. It’s insane.

you can still farm it, but it just super low on the drop chance, you are probably better off buying them and putting time into farming elsewhere
Super low is an understatement. 4 hours farming so far with a big fat zero drops. 
Yeah I had nothing for 3 days then I got them all in a 2 hr session last night. But was watching a streamer and they were getting like 4-6 plumes from pack pulls fairly regularly. BUT they were specced into gainful and trophy taker which increases the droprate.

They were simply not available 3 days ago. They only unlocked/fixed (whatever they did) with the Tuesday reset.
if that was the case then where did all the stuff on the AH come from this week? they were 100% dropping just in a very low drop rate unless you specifically specced into the talent that increases the drop chance. Prior to the Tuesday reset I was farming canines without issue. After the reset the drop rate fell completely. I was still getting them but 1 every few hours. They likely tweaked it but fact still remains, if you spec into it then the drop rates are pretty decent. Without speccing into it its still very low.
There are other places that it can come from besides skinning.
Also, the fact that they are rapidly dropping in price shows they are readily available.
I have two skinners. One is spec’d into trophy taker, the other has not.
Both of them were able to get enough plumage easily enough to finish the weekly quest.
