Making another thread for this. Again. Please at least let us respend points if we abandon a profession and relearn it. Make us re-level it but at least let us keep the points we earned and respend them
Already against Blizzard’s Code of Conduct.
No that would be exploitable. People would have learned subclass A to get whatever and then drop it to get subclass B. Never underestimate what a no life mythic raiding tryhard group will do.
We’re at the point in the expansion too where most of all the good stuff should be achievable now even if you did your points “wrong” at the start.
Edit - And this comes from someone who went full tilt into learning the blue gems from JCing instead of the rings/neck. I’ve yet to make a single work order for ANY blue quality gem myself or my guild member didn’t intentionally make to get my weekly done and it isn’t like there isn’t a plethora of those cut gems on the AH to boot.
If you’re willing to re-level a profession every time you want to make a different item, good for you lol
I’m not. I’m saying that is exactly what would have happened. Give a tryhard an inch, they’ll exploit a mile and then cry how they “needed” to do it to be competitive.
I was using the hypothetical generic “you.” And my “good for you” was meant to indicate that I don’t care if some RWF mythic raider wants to add several hours of extra work to abuse the system. The majority of players will simply be happy to respec their points.
The majority of players would love to have gold cap added to their wallets and BIS gear mailed to them. I think the profession revamp is largely complete and utter nonsense and in no way is good for the solo casual, but I can at least appreciate Blizzard wanting to add some element of permanence and having specializations have some kind of significance even if their actual implementation is woefully bad here.
What is even the point of specialization if you can just undo it on some whim?
the reason they wont allow this,
is because quite a few people have heaps of the 405/418 items to make crafted gear.
dropping a profession and relearning it, would allow say a leather wearer to craft his 418 bracers/legs/boots/helm/chest/shoulders/gloves/belt/legs.
then swap to JC make a ring and neck
then BS to make a weapon
Tailoring for a cloak etc…
yes it would cost millions of gold
but people like me would do it.
not a tryhard but yes i would do it, so i could stat optimise myself and get the groupings i wanted to do the things i wanted ingame to avoid the delays.
Asking for freedom to respec some points is a far cry different than blizz just dumping gold cap into everyone’s wallet and hand out BiS gear for free. You can’t honestly think those are comparable, do you?
What % of the playerbase has the millions of gold a dozens of extra hours needed to do this? I don’t care if you want to do it. I don’t care if 5% of the population wants to do it. I am extremely doubtful that hundreds of thousands of players have the millions of gold + time +dedication to level every profession multiple times to solo craft all of their own gear. And for those that do have the resources, I say go for it.
That makes you very much a tryhard. Like it’s fine to be a no life tryhard.
Lol my thoughts exactly. I am a perfectly average player. I put in probably a dozen hours a week of play. With that time I am doing mostly casual gathering while grinding rep and waiting in solo shuffle queues. Sometimes I try to level an alt and then realize I don’t have time for it. Never in a million years could I do what he described.
if you have the system there, EVERYONE whether you believe it or not, WOULD 100% use the system and abuse it.
just because you want it doesnt mean its a good change.
people asking for stuff that doesnt make sense or makes it easier for them, is how we got wod.
not really a tryhard if im optimising my gametime which i pay for to play it how i want to?
This is categorically false because I wouldn’t so “everyone” isn’t true. The only people who can abuse it are those with MILLIONS of gold, absurd amounts of time to play, and a maniacal dedication to min-maxing the hell out of their characters without using any actually dungeon or raid rewards. That’s a very niche subset.
The hyperbole is strong with this one…
That’s the word I was looking for. The fact I couldn’t think of it means it’s time to go to bed haha
Yep! Bedtime for me too. Sleep well!
My point being players want anything and everything. If I could respec my points, I would because shoving over 100 points into learning blue gems hasn’t made me a single copper (mostly because I don’t sell stuff) and it actively HAS kept me from making the high end necklaces/rings, but I blame myself for that because I picked what I did and just because I don’t super love my choice doesn’t mean it should be invalidated.
Again, what even is the point of specializations if you could just undo it? People would absolutely use that to get around the entire point of specializations to begin with…may as well just not even have them then.
Whatever you do…don’t look at your talent tree…
