Reserved Words

Uh, so. Why when I try to tell someone to check “prog channel” in messages it tells me it’s reserved words? I’d really like to be able to tell people which channel in our discord to check for that raid group. It’s a head scratcher for me. I mean, I am kinda old, maybe I’m missing some new lingo thing?

tried it in bnet chats too, nope doesn’t work.

No clue. Could “prog” be short for program? An internal command that executes code when you have the correct access?

My best guess. Back to the top for more eyes.

No idea, but a friend of mine and I have been having an amusing time trying to figure out what catches it and what doesn’t

yeah, no matter what we tried every text option within the game wouldn’t let us use “prog channel” in the same chat box. even with special characters or gaps in-between the two words and either word on their own works just fine so its not just the words “prog” or “channel” but the combo of them being in the same sentence

Discord Support might have some insights.

You cant say that but people can still say the word that rhymes with maggot.

Seriously?

Also is there another definition that I dont know about?

How else would I share my love for my homelands delicacy?
No, seriously. This food item is super common in England basically just think of it as a meatball.
I must say though, the second image of it being cooked on Wikipedia looks rather revolting even to me who grew up eating them.

Anyways. I’m sure the real issue is as Mossclaw says, more of a technical reason than a social one.

It’s not discord that’s the problem, it’s the ingame not being able to say prog channel. Prog channel is a channel on our discord that the progression raid group uses for coordination. So, I’m trying to tell people to check that channel for info, and I get the blocked message lol

Can I reserve “the” I’d love to watch you all try to post without it long term.

Want to use “the” pay the fees or post like a schlep.

So maybe change the channel name to PC (for prog channel) or reference Prog Channel as “PC”, and you can skirt around it. I’ve been using Discord since summer of 2016, raided all the time in Legion, BfA, and SL, and never had this happen  Sometimes naming limitations, or certain phrases just won’t work, so we work around them.

That’s because in all these ToS, CoC, social contracts over the years, modern blizz isn’t about protecting anyone, and has been monetizing hate for just as long.
Chat can be fixed if that was their goal.
Abused report system can be fixed if that was their goal.
False flagging accounts can be fixed if that was their goal.

sounds like this issue:

Like all the K***ht’s of Dark Souls.

So anyway it seems any accidental string of ‘og channel’ gets blocked, every other derivative gets by.

“Transmog Channel” doesn’t work either.
the common letters:

prOG Channel
transmOG Channel

OGC together is a calliagram or ambigram, a picture from letters in another perspective.

Society should not be catering to people who find offense in everything. It’s three letters in a line of a naturally occurring conversation. If you’re looking to be offended you’ll find offense everywhere you look.
