Researchers under fire

Was 12 objectives, of all the same steps, really needed?

It seems so far that both the assaults and research events are not received positively by most of the player base. Hopefully there will be some adjustments coming.

It seems to be designed to waste time. Only explanation for it being so redundant.

This is just part of the course of Dragonflight outdoor event, you kill bunch of stuff, you collect bunch of stuff, you fill the bar.

However, Research Under Fire has one glaring issue : Strict Timer

If you don’t have full team of raids or shard/server with plenty of people, you’ll most likely loses out on some objectives, and misses out on the purple cache (which require 12/12)

Unlike dragonbane event where the timer is from start to finish.

Research Under Fire you have to complete objective 1-8 in around 15min, once the timer ran out it’s straight to 9th objective.

yeah they need to change this one too - first time I landed and I got credit on my aiding the accord without doing anything. The second time, I waited around because I didn’t have a clue what was supposed to happen and the event started and I still didn’t have a clue so I left.

This people making these have zero respect for people’s time. Plus I think 25 minutes for this sort of crap is too long.

Since aiding the accord doesn’t give gold or the gear drop anymore, it is going to start just getting a hard pass by me. I don’t need the rep that badly to put up with these annoying things AND grabbing 3000 rep. Like once you are done all the quests it means being creative to finish out the 3k
and a lot of people are capped on renown so what’s the use for them?

I don’t even know how to do it. I go to the blue circle and there’s nothing there. No instructions at all. Lame.

The phrase you’re looking for is “par for the course”

I had this problem usually the action is happening right across a yellow lake behind were the circle tells you to stand
you will see the players killing stuff.

The good knows its so long that as long as you go there at the beginning or end you will get the credit. I got luck and did one ending a few times.

Not sure if it affects your rewards though but since its a weekly its all good.

If they’re going hardcore, I’d suggest we make it like 99 objectives just to meme it out. :o:

I don’t like timers.
I’m not fond of fighting elite mobs.

It’s hard for these events to grow on me.

The timer isn’t even consistent either. Earlier we finished the first phase in about 3 minutes and the next phase started with only 7 minutes remaining. It’s silly.

I did it, followed people around and killed elites, and killed the end boss, got an achievement, but didn’t get credit for the quest. Then I lost credit for the entire Aiding the Accord after I logged out, it was gone. I picked it up again, had lost 3000 points. Now I’m sitting in that stupid circle again wasting my time and not knowing what is going on.

We had 40 people and could barely even get to 10.

I wasn’t sure what I was doing at first. Then I thought I got it only to find the quests across the field and had to re-do part of it I had already done before I picked up the quest. (This made me a tad put-out.) Then there didn’t seem to be more to do than just AoE killing things in a blaze of spell effects which pretty much prevented me from seeing much of anything that was happening.

It was kind of :woman_shrugging: and seemed to take a long time for not much. I was wondering if I was missing something.

Now that I understand the event better, it’s clear that the only way to get the tasks all complete is having a significant raid ready to go as soon as the first objective is fulfilled, since that triggers a combined timer for finishing the next 9 objectives.

Many of the mobs are pretty strong (at current gear levels), so you need a lot of people to get them down fast, though a few will be weaker mobs. Those ones are dangerous in another sense - they will sometimes bug out and prevent completion of an objective (falling one mob short on one of the animal waves - the bug seeming to be the result of people killing some too fast as they spawn).

You also need a lot of people to get through the “gathering” steps fast enough to complete all objectives before the overall timer finishes. That’s not a gear thing, just a “pick up an item and run it back” thing. A group of five people trying to clear the event has no real chance of finishing all objectives, because it’ll take them forever to run 50 or 60 items back and forth vs. a raid of 40 people who can get it done in 30 seconds.

This quest is overly hard for no reason ,should be able to do it solo , aoes are dumb and hurt WAY too much , died too many times to count only to rez and die instantly again , several people that were doing the same quest , killing the same mobs got the quest completed , but mine did not . so angry right now , yet anoter fail for Blizzard .
pardon the outburst but im really upset at this quest . i did everything liek the others also doing the quest at the same time as i was , no completion . also WHY is there NO reward for it . stupidly hard plus no reward makes one NOT want to complete it ever . at least make it worth my 450G repair bill . no groups for it , not enough people online to form a group , ( could also be that im attempting it at 5 am , but that is besides the point ) come on Blizzard , you are going to loose more players if you keep this crap up .

They didn’t make this content for the casuals though. I’m 420 ilvl and the groups of mobs will obliterate you unless there are several people nearby. That’s not ‘casual’. I’m also on a high pop realm, done the event 3 times, never have enough people to get to the 9/12 tasks reward, let alone the 12/12 reward.

This event seems to be designed to only be completed fully if you have close to a full raid group. Which is going to be rare unless you are online during peak hours. Then, when you have that full raid group, you aren’t going to be able to see anything from all the spell effects dropping fps down to single digits and will probably die to aoe swirlies.

This event is way overtuned for “casuals” or anyone that doesn’t play during peak hours.
