Im ready to try something else. What class plays the most like hunter. I understand its very unique, but if your good with hunter playstyle what will be the easiest transition? Mage? Lock?
Lock would play the closest with pets, and ‘most’ of the mobility.
mobility really goes downhill fast tho for most of the range casters. the big spells have cast times or channeling.
if you play a Druid you can be your own pet in melee or have ranged options, depending on your talents and spec.
Mage and Ele Sham are great … but might feel so-so coming off a Hunter, depending on the spec.
the big thing is, try all the classes. each has their own ‘quirk’ or feel, and the Melee/Tank or Range type i like might not be the game play you like. try them out and play the one you like, even if its not the spec/fotm/type everyone else likes.
If you have fun thats all that matters in the end.

depeding on spec, i would say the closest should be :
- SV => outlaw rogue
- BM => demo lock
- MM => frost mage

I’d say Devastation Evoker. They have a pretty simple rotation, lots of insta-casts, and a ton of mobility.
i think for me, fury warrior and demon hunter if you play bm, ik they’re melee unlike hunters but they have a fairly clear and intuitive rotation. plus cool animations - who doesn’t want to cannonball into something from on high and cleave its face off, or shoot laser beams from your eyes? they actually have cooldowns though so might be overwhelming!
i actually can’t play most ranged because i itch for them to be more like hunters. demo warlocks feels extremely sluggish and unsatisfying for me after being able to do 360 loops of bosses while executing my full rotation. of all the other range specs in the game, i think fire mage is the most mobile, and though i’ve never pvp’d with one, it is very satisfying getting off a greater pyro in comp stomp, lol. shadow priest wildly alternates between hitting like a truck and a wet noodle from patch to patch but it is oddly satisfying during burst phases when the CDs align.
I’m switching to demo next season. I will be super salty if locks get a super rare weapon that the class is balanced around. It plays like a bm hunter, but you do have to cast, but there’s mobility and survivability, plus lock gates, cookies, brez, locks bring utility to groups!
